Zones were implemented to stop dominant inside players like prime Shaq, no more no less

Not really. Zones were implemented moreso to help elevate all perimeter players - the ones that had trouble creating their own shot. Basically, they allowed zones for more 3s and lob dunks - the more exciting plays of basketball.

But if these players weren't overhyped as young'uns they would've learned how to beat a zone in middle school/HS. Soring with someone guarding you is always going to be harder than scoring on a zone. The irony is that players in general are worst than in the 90s, even with lax defenses, switches on everything, and someone always being open.

He may be underrating current players, but players in the 70s and 80s were more sound fundamentally.....
We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I think because the players of that era were less athletic than the players of this era, people automatically believe they were better fundamentally or had to work harder but it's just not true. For example, there is a MUCH higher percentage of players that can use both hands adeptly in today's NBA than there was back in those days.

Breh, as much as i hate Jordan stans, you can't even try to argue that one.

dunking on nikkas in the 90's wasn't on some "we're gonna get out of the way, cause we don't wanna get a foul or be on a poster " type shyt.

LeBron has the body for that type of play, but he don't have the heart/mind for it.

Lebron wade and wall are gonna suck. None of these so called superstars can shoot except steph and melo
All they wanna do is drive and drsw contact like some battymen

:patrice: Without zone rules it may just balance out. Lebron would have work and develop more of post game which might serve him better in the long run anyway.

Also can you image lebron defense allowing him to hand check:gladbron:

:whoo: Might turn into a lock down defender.

I wonder how the players would feel about banning the zone again. Scoring may suffer, so other rules would need to be adjusted so its not too drastic a loss. That verticality Roy Hibbert rule would need to go as well. League would also have to put emphasis on making sure those bogus "charge" calls (where the defender slips in at the last minute while offensive player is gathering), are defensive fouls. Seen too many potentially exciting offensive plays being canceled cause somebody took charge while dude was going up.

As for Bron,
he would be a legit candidate for DPOY. The media and voters may be a little tired of voting him as the MVP, but him winning DPOY (or both in the same year) is just as big as him winning another MVP by itself.

As a wing/guard, he's trying to pass MJ, but hes gotta go through Magic, Bird, Kobe, Oscar. I think MJ is the only one outta that list who actually won the award so it'd be huge for Brons legacy when comparing it to Jordan (at the same age).

Yeah, and you do too. You've seen the games from the 70s and 80s, players dribbling predominantly with their right hand, shooting right hand layups on the left side, half of them only being able to drive one way, etc., etc.

zone allows you to crowd a player and double team off ball....hence the allen iverson rule.

illegal defense went away so you can camp in the paint for 3 seconds instead of being a body length from the closest man and double off ball.

but with these forwards not playing in the post and stretching the floor bringing back the old rules would turn into iso blow by ya man and no one guarding the basket. If everyone is on the perimeter and I can't be chilling in the paint and have to open to time the drive to the basket properly so i can help-out and pray he doesn't kick it to my man on the perimeter.

THESE GUYS WERE CAMPING IN THE PAINT
AND DOUBLING JORDAN OFF THE BALL...
OH YEAH HAND CHECKING TOO.
STOP PROMOTING MYTHS.

in 2014 teams can put 5 guys on the 3point line and be a real threat. Or you could put 4 on the 3 point like and a shaq type of player on the block to abuse a 1on1 matchup or hard-double team and give up an easy shot.

Also illegal defense was hard to call and had to be blatant. there's imaginary lines and it involved strong side and weak side. and considering the bulls spacing wasn't on point jordan had to do more work.
