Or maybe he doesn't want to uproot his son from NY to another city. Or how about that fact that he's not going to let some arrogant egotistical jackass of a team president run him out of NY.

Melo has never been very athletic, but can still EASILY give you 22-25 pts, 5-6 rebs a night, and is always capable of dropping 30+ on any given night. His peers in the NBA STILL consider him of the most prolific, dangerous scorers in the league.
Melo was very athletic in Denver and had a quick bounce in NY even after the added weight. He doesn't have the same lift anymore. It's very noticeable when he's under the rim now

I think the way it works Cap wise it's better to trade him July 1st. Afterwards I think he can't waive any of the trade kicker meaning that full amount will be on the books.

Knicks need to wait and see what happens with free agency, if the Heat strike out that would be a great landing spot for him with a chance for a decent return, and there's always the Cavs.

Yep, I could see Phil getting Winslow, Bam, and J Rich. The question is, will Melo waive that NTC just to go to Liv and lose to Cleveland? :patrice:

The likeliest scenario is Melo remaining with the team (to spite phil) or agreeing to a trade, eventually (because that's where he makes the most money)

It would be weird to waive him, because fiscally it's irresponsible. But it IS the knicks.
