He would have never dropped 8 mile or eventually relapse, which would be a bad thing IMO. And to be honest I don't really give nikkas credit for tapping out early to some how artificially preserve some kind of consistency by default. Him dropping encore and the hiatus weren't the highlights of his career but I respect him expressing where he was at in those moments more than I would him stepping away to try and walk away a paper champ.
Not that Andre is doing that on purpose...but let's say during this supposed "GOAT" run that he had where everybody and their mama start putting him in top 5 he just decided to officially retire...would that give his legacy a boost? Or would it have the same effect as him just kinda disappearing like he already has?
As a fan, i'd much rather watch you work through your artistic struggles than have you give up, or take the safe route and try to "go out on top".

Yea as someone else pointed out then there would be no 8 mile. He did put out a few good songs prior to Encore - We As Americans, Bully, Monkey See Monkey Do, Love You More. Also he had good features on GRODT. D12 World wasn't great, but I still found it enjoyable, same with Em's stuff on Cheers. But yea after all that stuff is when he should have called it quits. Encore was awful, and both Recovery and Relapse are meh (I know some people here love Relapse, but it still meh compared to his other work imo and the accent is annoying). His next album will most likely be meh too (and Berzerk is just bad)

Wu should've stopped after 36 Chambers imo
Mobb Deep probably could've stopped after Hell On Earth, although I like Murda Muzik too, and their other albums are still decent.
DMX should've stopped after his 3rd album.
Yea pretty much any artist you do this with will have a much better (albeit smaller) looking discography. And most artists' music quality regresses with time.
