As raw as it was, shyt wouldn't have put a dent in his armor. He was too big and at the top of his game for something like that to affect him. He prob wouldve released when we ride on our enemies and that would have deaded them. "nikka you barely living, dont you got sickle cell? see me and have a seizure on stage"

Exactly. It's one thing of it came from BIG (which I would imagine Pac was hoping for) but Mobb Dee got hit with a buckshot Pac threw at them, Jay Z, LL and a few others. Clearly gave zero fukks back then. I'll give Hav and P credit for doing what the others didn't even attempt to do.

That was what he said on Hit Em Up which predates Drop a Gem On Em.
He told them on 7 days when grown folks speak shut your mouth

How were they cowards? Prodigy's biggest problem is that he's not self aware enough to not put himself into situations where he is going to take an L. That's the opposite of being a coward. And I've never heard about Hav taking an L

They had no business running their mouth

That shyt is nice definitely. But now we get into what if territory.
Remember that Prodigy was one of the best rappers in 96 and better than Pac and all the Outlawz. If Drop A Gem On Em is the lead single for HOE with a crazy video the album probably sells more. Pac and the Outlawz strike back. Mobb probably gets another album out earlier. Is Nas drawn back in? Is the original version of Long Kiss Goodnight released? We know Jay was gonna go at him. So now we got Pac and the Outlawz against Mobb Deep, Nas, Biggie, Jay Z. Probably Trag and CNN too. They would have got buried.
Do Kurupt and Snoop get in it? Who else from the West? Cube? Dre was already making records with Nas before Pac died.
Jay and big was shook. Pac would have handled them nikkas and had that war really kept going i'm sure other west coasters would have got involved too

Hav's verse is cold as shyt breh, but you are right that P's is much better. I can see the way you view it...I see it as a song building in intensity.
It didn't have much of an opportunity to make much noise. It was released weeks before Pac died and on NY mixtapes only. They recorded a clean version of it for the radio, but there was no video and once Pac died they decided not to use it as a single.
Imagine what would have been if it was the actual single and then a video :wow:

Mind you with with p second up you get another classic p verse opener 'yeah likewise..'

And yeah a video would have blew it up much more, you're right. There's a few mobb tracks that I didn't get the full effect till I saw the video too. God pt 3 for example is an even more impressive track with the visuals.

People say a lot of things about the mobb these days but artistically they were both very, very, creative and really nailed that sound and style.
