  • What if Dwyane could stay healthy...
  • What if Jordan didnt get bored...
  • What if Krause didnt break up the Bulls...
What if scenarios can cause you to be depressed when you think of all the things that could have been. Take D-Wade's example. He played 16 seasons and only 6 times did he start 70+ games and in those he averaged 27+ points and 7+ assists.

Well Kobe was on his way up though so if Shaq would be gave you at least 20 and 10 you still had Kobe hitting his peak plus a deep bench I think they could've won 8 titles

Hell, Lamar Odom was giving the Lakers better than 20 and 10 in the 2006 and 2007 playoffs, and if the Lakers kept Shaq than they wouldn't have Odom. You're trying to say that you can take 19 and 13 Odom off of a team that lost in the 1st round, add an old Shaq, and suddenly have that team winning five straight titles?

He didn't win in 2003 and 2004, and was lucky to win in 2000 and 2002 with the ridiculous calls in the deciding games of the WCF, but you have them winning from 2005-2009?

Even with Shaq that team was gonna be toast in 2005. After that you're banking on Shaq at 34, 35, 36, 37 being able to carry a heavy workload....no Odom....not to mention that if they were paying Shaq's salary then they wouldn't be able to get the other guys they got on the roster.

this nikka is insufferable. If Shaq stays in shape he easily could've been a proper #2 for Kobe during those years. He wouldn't have had to carry a heavy workload, that would've been Kobe's job....

The Blazer what-ifs alone are depressing as hell.

1978: What if Bill Walton hadn't gotten injured and his career wrecked when the defending champ Blazers were 50-10 and looked destined to repeat? How many titles would that team have won and would they have been regarded as one of the greatest squads ever?

1983: What if the Blazers had drafted Jordan instead of Sam Bowie? What kind of magic would the Jordan-Drexler Blazers have pulled off?

1985: What if young and healthy Sabonis had actually been allowed to come to the Portland team that drafted him instead of being wasted in the USSR? How many dynasties would have gotten shook (Lakers? Pistons? Bulls? Rockets?) by an already 60+ win Blazers team whose only weak spot would have been filled by one of the top centers in the world????

2000: What if the refs hadn't given the Lakers a 37 to 16 free throw advantage in Game 7 and fouled both Scottie and Sabonis out of the game so Kobe/Shaq could squeak out a narrow victory. Would the Jail Blazers have won a title that year? Would the Lakers have crumbled to infighting even earlier?

2007: What if the Blazers had drafted Durant instead of Oden? How could would the Brandon Roy-Kevin Durant-LaMarcus Aldridge Blazers have been? Would they have been able to take out Miami in 2012? Would LMA ever leave for the Spurs and KD ever bolt for the Warriors in that scenario?

2009-11: What if Brandon Roy and Greg Oden had knees that held together? The Blazers 2006 and 2007 drafts were among the most talented two-year streaks of all time (Roy-LMA-Oden-Fernandez-Rodriguez), if 3/5 of that squad hadn't gotten knocked out of the league due to injuries, could they have done something?

It would have been weird cause Moses and Walton were nothing alike. Read The Breaks of the Game - that Blazer team totally revolved around Walton's passing and decision-making, if they had Moses there instead it would have been a completely different team and wouldn't have been nearly as successful.

And they couldn't keep Moses because they literally couldn't afford him. NBA wasn't very popular yet, didn't make much money at all in the 1970s, and teams often gave away good players who they simply didn't have the money to pay.

The even better what if? The Blazers traded Moses away and got the #1 pick in the 1978 draft in return. They picked Mychal Thompson with that pick. You know who they passed up?

Larry Bird. :francis:
