Maybe my perspective is skewed being a cat from Alabama…: When visiting San Fran/LA and Ft. Lauderdale/Miami on business trips… it was immediately evident that a sIgnificant majority of the population were body conscious
I’m considered good looking but I never felt more ugly than when I went to Beverley Hills years ago. I mean almost everyone there looked they walked out of a Abercrombie & Fitch commercial.

It was like going from the G league to the NBA. :mjcry:

Martial arts training. What good is all that training if you don’t have the strength to seriously hurt a motherfukker if you have to? :manny:

My pops was into bodybuilding and I wanted to be like him as a kid so I started off with his weights and doing calisthenics. Then a neighbor was moving and was giving away all kinds of free shyt. I made a beeline straight to the bar/dumbbells and plates and made off like a bandit to the crib. I was like 14 then and i still have most of those weights.

Recently it was because I meditated every day for a year and some change...it was my go to thing to make sense of everything and help me feel relaxed but then I hurt my back and I couldn't even do that anymore...then I got food poisoning the next day. In between vomiting my brains out I was reflecting on what I could do to help with my back and if I ever pushed myself fully physically

I played sports all of my life (varsity soccer and basketball). I started lifting more in HS because my younger brother, who was more athletically gifted, muscled me in the post one day and I didn't like that. After that day I decided to lift more, unfortunately that boy never let me catch up. He ended up playing football on a full-ride in the MAC and does professional bodybuilding on the side (IFBB pro; competes as a physique athlete).

At least I'm still taller, it's not much (6'1" vs 6') but that's all I got physically.🤣

I was already exercising and going to the gym from a young age due to sports, so sticking with it long term was a no brainer

The Deep South is the heaviest region in the country so it is skewed.

I've been to LA and people are average. My father has been to Miami and was surprised/disappointed at people being out of shape.

Lame reason: I got dumped and needed an outlet to get the bytch off my mind. Video games, porn, music and anime didn’t help. I figured the next best thing was to improve myself in some way and work towards a goal.

That’s when I decided to become fit by weight training and actually paying attention to what and how much food I put in my body

I originally started going to the gym as another way to hang out with friends and try to keep up with them, but I was trash and didn't know the first thing about lifting back then. But eventually I started going on my own, it turned into a few days a week, then I turned into a gym rat and gained a fascination with getting better/stronger in the gym. That was back in 2018, now I'm usually in the gym 6 days/week. I regret not lifting in high school though, shyt finally dawned on me when I started lifting during college I should've been doing it much sooner:snoop:

Health reasons when someone from my HS graduating class had a heart replacement at age of 35 because of excessive amounts of fast food he ate :whoa:

No way I am going out like that. Cardio and weights on my mid section is the way to go.
