I wasn't seeing it though...bro said LA/Miami makes you reassess what it is to be aesthetic...in my time there (LA), as a general statement, no, that's too strong of a statement. Now if I were to be posted up along the boardwalk where calisthenic monsters and bodybuilders flex, sure.
Ehhh, LA is big and is very car centric. But within certain pockets, eg West Hollywood, Beverly Hills etc the floor for aesthetics is definitely higher. No two ways about it breh.

South Beach Miami is very different from Ft Lauderdale etc

SF has people being "fit" from walking and thus being lighter than the middle of the country, but it wasn't a city of borderline crossfit physiques.
I mentioned SF folks being fit not in a gym/lifting manner but from lifestyle. Walking, cycling, hiking etc.

A lot of social activities are centered around fitness eg runs clubs.

My thing is when absolute statements are made about a city it should be immediate/inescapable. I had this same issue on here when I said I found the "LA 6 = Anywhere Else 10 woman" overblown. I shouldn't need a dozen trips or to be within a half-mile of a postal box to get it.

The peak is higher but I wasn't seeing a higher floor of fitness.

I haven’t explored LA as comprehensively as I should considering I’m here in SF so I won’t speak on that area.

But for SF, the fitness floor is definitely higher than other parts of the country. Geography, city build and weather play a big role in that.

You're proving my point about LA. If I have to sit in certain pockets and the carcentric culture takes away the walking/mobility aspect, the aesthetic floor isn't higher. The aesthetic penthouse is more populated.

I kid you not… this morning was chest day for me and I was doing my incline dumbbell press. I’ve got my earphones in while I’m resting between sets and suddenly I get a tap on the shoulder.

I turn to my side and some cute little Arab lady says:

“those are really big.:shaq:

I said “excuse me?”

She pointed to the weights “those dumbbells. How do you lift so heavy?”

I replied “Oh! Just years of practice. That’s all.”

Her: “I can tell by your arms.” And she squeezed my bicep. She then tries to lift one of my dumbbells and struggles. “See? I can barely lift it.”

I had to:whoa:. I’m not a single man anymore but boy if I was… :wow:

Literally the day after I make this thread. The universe is funny like that. :dead:

You know what, I haven’t explored LA enough so let me not talk. SF, the floor is deff higher.

We can agree that the LA peak is definitely higher, too

I need to go back to SF, but I'm not sure what the definition of aesthetic floor is. Breh is speaking from a place that's 40% obese, so for him yes. I'm surprised you're saying this as a former DMV person because the capitol has the lowest obesity rate in the country.

Of course an average height man who is 175 and walks/cycles as the standard is more aesthetic than his 230 pound/30% BF standard counterpart in the Bible Belt, but I guess I'm also skewed by using gym goer/active person standards, as well as being from a fairly fit state.

It takes more than simply having low BF to me to say the floor is higher.

Yup.. Pretty much this. I spent a month in the financial district of San Fran a few years back and probably saw 4 to 6 people that could legitimately be classified as overweight, not including my coworkers at the time…..

I spent about 10 days in LA…. and another 4 in Calabasas….. and it was easy to tell that fitness was part of those cities lifestyles….San Diego gave me that impression to…

Myself and my own.
I used to model suits and clothes as a side gig (nothing major, just smaller gigs) when I was younger. As I got older, I sort of fell off weight-wise, despite still looking decent. One day I tried on an old suit I used for an old shoot and was appalled at how I looked. It sort of fit but damn, I was looking :flabbynsick: as fukk and I was too young at the time be looking that bad. So in short, I wanted to look like my GQ self again. :o:
