Breh understanding the Law is absolutely FUNDAMENTAL to becoming a politican :francis:

And as @ThreeLetterAgency said, you don't have luxury of white privilege. You're a black male. You need to be the best of the best.
How you gonna play the game of politics without knowing the rules of the game? :jbhmm:

You want to help the people right? How can you help them if you don't understand what policies need to be changed, how they can be changed, and the legal protocol of your state

Not just that, but a Law degree provides skills which are essential for a job in politics: such as critical analysis, interpretating ideas and using them to convey and formulate your argument

You put yourself at a SERIOUS disadvantage debating a with Law school graduate breh.

Get your Law degree my brother
:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol: Mofos will laugh at dude walking around with a useless Liberal Arts Associates degree.

Breh, I seriously hope you don't believe this. Politics and money are practically tied together. You may certainly turn campaign money down, but the guy running against you won't. :francis:
I don't care about the guy against me. I'll just have supporters donate money to my campaign. I don't believe donors should donate money to a candidate. Plus, it'll just help me expose that other guy, so it wouldn't hurt me.

If you're dead set on the AA degree, I would do something more practical like some type of trade. At least you would be qualified for a job and stack up money while you pursue your political career. :ehh:
Well, I plan to get a cert in fitness training and down the line get a real estate license :manny:

Sorry, I don't want to be a corporate politician. That's not my forte and I'm not going to go broke when I can get a bachelors years from now.

Morality isn't black/white. It's a spectrum breh.
In the Capitalist society we live in, money plays a key role in EVERYTHING. Don't be a naive idealist.
I can tell you're a smart brother and you have the potential and the passion to do something big for your community.
Don't waste it and settle for something mediocre.

"A corporate politican" isn't necessarily a bad or corrupt individual. You can do a great deal of good in your state.

Beware tho, Politics is a vicious game. This isn't hollywood where the good guy wins all the time. You have to be Machiavellian in nature.
Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty and manipulate some statistics and finesse a lil for the greater good :francis:

You don't have to "go broke" but if you had the academic chops, money wouldn't be an option.

Pick a struggle.

What are your goals?

Chances are, that education will help you. Hell, it'll allow you to network even further than you'd get without it.

Don't be stubborn.
It's not stubborn it's I don't want to go into debt. If you pay I'm down lol :heh: Until then, I'm going with the best route. Highest I would go would be a bachelors.

There's dudes in politics without a degree. I just want a little something under my belt. Right now, I just don't feel like doing four years of uni. My mind isn't there for that and I'm already burnt out from family and stress.
Yeah but they put in a lot of work. If 8 years of school is too tedious for you, then he may be right.

I'm not going to tell you not to do it or discourage you with negativity because black people in general need to get involved more on the local level, and if you have a geniune interest then by all means give it your all. But your post at the same time kind of reeks of taking a short cut to your goal. Scott Walker went to a pretty expensive private uni (Marquette) and he only left from what I'm reading because he joined the red cross and went to do work for them full time overseas. Before he was governor he had a long history in establishing himself in various government roles. The fact he spent time with the red cross probably allowed him to get a foot in the door by showing he has a history of pursuing his goals and passion full time to the point of dropping out and working for the red cross full time.

Not a fan of his policies but a lot of these guys have a substantial career behind them and years of experience before making the big moves. The other person who comes to mind was the former mayor of Antonio Villaraigosa who went to a two year which he constantly promotes to sell his "everyday man" narrative but rarely mentions he used the two year to transfer into a 4 year.

Your campaign of purity politics is based on the notion you'd create a movement that people will just flock to?

Based on what credentials and legitimacy???

Debt is not bad if its an investment in your future.

And your "highest" is the entry level for 80% of people at this point.

You're not even working or own your own business which doesn't provide any legitimacy for you to gain support or inspire confidence.

Raise the bar bro.

You're black. You have to be better just to be equal.

I just want to do local level politics. Like congressman and mayor. Highest I would go would be senate.

Well, based on a popular platform that people want a politician who represents them and not donor money identity politics.

I'll just have supporters donate money to my campaign.
Fam, as far as politics goes, people aren't parting with their money out of the goodness of their hearts. Sure you may get a couple dollars from "supporters," but the type of donors that will get you to the top are giving their money with the expectation that you'll do right when the time comes.
I don't believe donors should donate money to a candidate.
What does this even mean? :mindblown:
Plus, it'll just help me expose that other guy, so it wouldn't hurt me.
Again, what does this mean? :mindblown:

If you're actually serious about it, which I doubt you are, stop trying to skip rungs on the ladder and do it correctly.
