I think the sixers plan is clear. Wait and see on Ebiid and then move one of the bigs for a disgruntled star etc. It made sense to draft the best available.

Ainge has to prove himself. The big 3 Era was great but he kind of lucked into that KG deal. It's time to do something with these "assets".. enough about what they could do.. let's see it fukking happen.

Ainge still doing a good job. He tried to tank in 2014 and. 2015, yet Stevens is too good of a coach to tank.
Sure he has 10,000 picks yet no future star, but Bostpn can't really draw FA's, so they have to stockpile on cheap talent. Wouldn't shock me if Boston is in the running for a Paul George trade 1-2 years from now.

I think Ainge is hoping to luck out like Morey hoping piling up assets lands him a disgruntled star. Problem is after the Harden situation I don't see many teams willing to just trade away a rising star out of fear of paying them. Also Boston doesn't compare to Houston as a free agency destination. Their attempts to tank have failed as once they ended up with Smart and this year Stephens was able to coach them into a playoff spot.
