Funny how over time Islam has become the black man's religion and Christianity the white man's yet neither is true. They both originated from the same place. Why people continue to spew this nonsense is beyond me

ignorance, pure ignorance

Africa is fukking huge and not monolithic. And there were religions/beliefs before the Egyptian ones (which is only a small part of the continent).

Most of Africa was sparsely populated outside of the Nile, if at all, during Dynastic times. Yes, there were spiritual systems well before Egypt but it all would have been developed in the Wet Sahara/Nile/Great Lakes regions.

Naw I'm Igbo. But i'm about to do some research on the Orisha system as well. Any good sources you've come across regarding the Orisha religion?
Just regular Youtube videos for now. But I gotta say that Orisha REALLY influenced us diasporian blacks.:whoo:

From Cuba, Brazil, Haiti(to an extent), Dominican Rep, Jamaica(to an extent), Louisiana culture(to an extent), etc, etc. Orisha is my second most favorite indignous African religion after ancient Nile Valley religions. Heck some say the two are similar.

Anyways what I like most about Orisha culture/religion is the colorful clothing, especially by the women who dance for the Orisha "Yemaya." :whoo:

black love, unity, and music
Fact 1:
Some slaves taken over were Muslim but most were not. Highest proportion of African Americans are from Angola. Then Senegambia is next, I believe.

I almost sure this is Nigeria.
As always this thread is just full of baseless assertions, racism, cringeworthy ignorance, and of course the trademark coli view of blacks as some united and monolithic entity. fukking ignorant clowns

Either post some facts to refute the claims or shut the fukk up. No one gives a flying fukk about your personal opinions regarding the coli.

Btw what is Igbo religion like?

Igbo religion is amixture of Christisnity and ancestor worship. The vast majority of igbos are ardent Christians that vehemently deplore idol worship and consider it demonic. However there is a significant portion of the population that practices juju and idol worship still. I've met a few juju practitioners and I do believe there is some power in that shyt. Lots of the festivals and stuff practiced in Igbo culture are remnants of the idol worship we use to practice in ancient times. I.e. Masquerade.

However the vast majority of that juju is demonic as fukk as generally the user if harmed while practicing and carrying out its rights. Lots of the Nollywood movies go into these juju rituals and how people exploit them to get money and power. shyt is crazy.

Anyways. Shout out to my favorite god of the Moon, Horus. He is also the god of protection...

As the eye represents protection, power and rejuvenation.:blessed:

Together with the eye of Ra(sun god), both eyes represent the universe.:blessed:

Also shout out to Ezili Dantor who answered the Haitians prayers and gave the French that work in the revolution.

Wha? White people have even hijacked Christianity as their own, even though it had nothing to do with them.

If you have a Bible then read the Acts of the Apostles, 8:26-40

Here is a hint. It doesn't involve a Cac, but it is Christianity. It involves these folks:

Doesn't look like a peer-reviwed source. Most peer-reviewed studies on African-American studies I read show them coming from Nigeria. Plus slaves were later banned from Angola due to constant rebellion.

I've read books on the subject which say Angola/Congo is the source of most African American slaves. Additionally, books are cited on the webpage.

Where's your source on slaves from Angola being banned?
