I really don't get what Big Boss is striving for. A nation without borders, a paradise for soldiers? Is this supposed to be some place soldiers can retire from war? Kick back in a base with a metal gear and a nuke to deter people from messing with them? Is it supposed to be some place where they form a PMC and fight for money?

In the MGSV trailer Big Boss' right hand man Kaz says "The world calls for wetwork, and we answer... No greater good... No just cause"

So what they just wanna take jobs and kill people for the hell of it? I'm having a hard time seeing what Big Boss and his men are trying to accomplish.

it ain't peace, but he isn't opposed to those who strive for peace. i think wherever there is conflict he wants to be a part of the fight. the story isn't finished though so... :yeshrug:

Guess you have to wait till the MGSV to find out:manny:
Outer Heaven likely isn't in Metal Gear Solid V because its in Metal Gear 1. It was a nation he created in Africa with a fortress and a Metal Gear w/ nuke that Solid Snake infiltrated and brought down.
Diamond Dogs (MGSV) and Militaires Sans Frontières (MGSPW) are like the earlier versions of it.

What I don't get is what was the point of it? Was it for soldiers to find peace? Was it so he could have a PMC and be guns for hire?

It was a new world order, sort of like what the patriots tried to accomplish
Maybe consolidated to a hidden land
Had to be a place of peace and normality

It was to over throw the Patriots.

This is the best explanation i've seen on the subject and even it sounds stupid.

The basis of Outer Heaven was an army of free citizens - or soldiers- that answered to no government and fought for no ideology. They fought for themselves, for no reason other than the battlefield was the only place they truly felt alive. But this was only part of it: the dream Big Boss wanted to realise was a world of constant, never ending warfare - a warriors utopia where soldiers would always be needed. He wanted total anarchy, the breakdown of nations, governments, borders so that civilastion degenerated into a kind of primitive, warring tribal-like civilisation where people would have no choice but to fight, and in the words of Ocelot finally "know the fullness of life" as a result. Big Boss in his later years believed that to fight was humanitys base instinct and that we should embrace it or else we aren't really living. Outer Heaven was the conceptual oppposite of The Patriots, instead of a world of total control and order, under a totalitarian regime, it was total anarchy, liberty, and chaos, with the soldier state Outer Heaven ensuring that the cycle keeps going - not unlike the war economy of mgs4.

This guy is suggesting Big Boss wanted perpetual war just because the battlefield made him feel alive and that this perpetual war shouldn't be for a nation, religion, or ideology but just mindless pointless senseless fighting for the sake of having it as some type of enjoyable pastime. I'm hoping he's wrong because that doesn't make a lick of sense.

Basically they want a nation of mercenaries with no borders and no allegiance to anything but money.

wars only exist because of ideology clashes, religion, and governments. War isn't a football game or something for entertainment value. If governments didn't exploit soldiers would they even exist as soldiers or just be regular people living in peace?

I can look back at Zero's actions and at some point see traces of the Boss' will in it but with Big Boss he just seems insane.Zero was clearly trying to unify the world but the power corrupted him and his unified world had no freedom. that whole nation with no borders and on allegiance that only fits for money thing has nothing to do with the Boss' will.

a dangerous man once said the only socially acceptable place for a psychopath is being a soldier in a time of war.
why wouldn't that make a lick of sense??
