Add pippen to the long list of players history would barley remember had they not played with Jordan

Not saying pippen wasn’t great and one of the best SF ever

But ain’t nobody modeling their game after pippen other than his defense

Pippen was a perfect role player sidekick 2nd option:manny: but not many players have this as their goal :hubie:

YOU SELLIN HIM SHORT

PIPPEN WAS CONSIDERED THE SECOND BEST PLAYER BY MANY IN A LEAGUE WIT BARKLEY, MALONE, HAKEEM, PAYTON, D-ROB ETC.

TO SAY NO ONE MOLDED THEIR GAME AFTER HIM IS A STRETCH CONSIDERING HE WAS THE PROTOTYPE POINT FORWARD AND A VERY UNIQUE+ORIGINAL BREED.

IF ANYTHING, MJ HINDERED HIS INDIVIDUAL LEGACY, AS HE WILL FOREVER BE KNOWN AS A SIDEKICK, WHEN HE WAS EASILY A TOP TIER PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF HIS PRIME.

I'd say Iggy is the closest. PG would be, but he's a much better scorer than Pippen ever was, and his passing is ehhh at best. And Kawhi has shown a better offensive repertoire, but also, he can't run an offense. Most of the players people try to paint as a Pippen type, aren't as good as Pippen's best feature which is running an offense. Jimmy Butler can't run an offense. I think Jimmy is more of a Sidney Moncrief mold, which would include your Mike Finley's, Joe Dumars, Eddie Jones etc. LO could but his defense was trash. Matter of fact, LO was a underachiever in everything...maybe cept rebounding. Iggy can in spurts, but Iggy can't get to his spots which is another thing that Pip did well. Matrix & AK were just as good of defenders, Matrix a far better rebounder and both better shot blockers but they can't run an offense, they can barely handle the ball.

You have other 3's that could run an offense, rebound and score - Lebron, Grant Hill, Cyber-Toine, but their defense wasn't as elite.

This is actually a good discussion. Because there are a lot of players that have a family tree, and a lot of greats that are unique.

I have to disagree here. How often was Pippen ever considered the 2nd best player on the court? Not often. Maybe when they played Nuggets or Pacers, but other than that he was the 3rd - 4th best player out there.

Nuggets, Pacers, Heat, bucks, Cavs, sixers, magic before Shaq, Lakers after magic, pistons after Zeke, spurs, bucks, bullets, clippers

That's 13 teams fam :stopitslime: if you think he's on the same level or better as Ewing and Kemp that's 15. This is straight from memory without even checking the rosters (I barely remember 90s basketball, I was born in 91).

That's over half the league before 95 and once you add grizzlies and raptors in the mix he was better than everyone on those teams too. This means that while Jordan was being trash at baseball SCOTTIE PIPPEN WAS THE BEST PLAYER ON THE FLOOR OVER 50% OF THE TIME. And even while Jordan was there, he was second-best more often than not. So what was your point again?? :ohhh:

Bj armstrong and horace grant made the 94 all star team :stopitslime:they were both all stars that season.Which is my point that '94 bulls team overachieved and it wasn't just pippen like these revisionist groupies try to make it sound.

Armstrong was routinely droppin 20+ , bulk of this site wasn't old enough to remember that era
Doggy again you are missing my point. Grant and Armstrong both made 1 all star appearance and honestly they were just being rewarded by coaches for playing well without Jordan. But you're bringing them up as is they we perrenial all-stars or some shyt. It's like John Starks or (to give you an a modern example) Jeff Teague making the all-star team. We both know while they made it, they are NOT perennial all-stars. So stop giving people the impression that BJ and Grant were some legends playing along side Pippen

I never insinuated they were perennial all stars or said they were legends. Bj Armstrong and Horace Grant were all stars in 1994 along with pippen period.

Don’t matter why or how they made the team they were all stars that season, that’s all I ever said. You don’t have to be a legend or perennial all star to make the team nick van exel made an all star team once. What is your point?

Random mediocre players lucc into Allstar appearances....lot of time bc better players were injured.

Hell Jamal Magloire is an Allstar

Context matters

BJ Armstrong the Allstar was thrown away in the expansion draft just a few years later which shows his real value.

Point is both those guys were just role players not real stars or upper echelon players whatsoever so using them as a fulcrum for your argument is flimsy as hell.

SO PIPPEN IS NOT AN ALL-TIME GREAT?

HE DIDNT LEAD HIS TEAM TO THE EASTERN SEMIS WITOUT MJ??

YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE NO CLUE JUST HOW GOOD HE REALLY WAS - UNLIKE U, I WAS WATCHING BASKETBALL BACK THEN AND CAN EVEN REMEMBER HEARING MARV ALBERT SAY SPECIFICALLY “MANY CONSIDER PIPPEN THE 2ND BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE BEHIND MJ” ON ONE OF THE TELECASTS..

HE WAS THAT GOOD AND THE FACT THAT U DONT REALIZE IT JUS PROVES MY POINT.

:mjlol: I refuse to take this troll mutha fukka serious.

He was never the 2nd best player in the nba at any point. That's legit disrespect to shaq, barkley, hakeem, robinson etc

Actual mvp's who led their teams to conference finals/finals, you over hyping pippen like all kobe groupies do.

ehh

im not gonna say pip was the 2nd best player of the '90s.

but can we all agree that he was a top 10 player and #1 at his position?

The '95 Bulls were 34-31 before jordan returned that same team was below .500 in the 1st half of that season and barely hanging on to the 6 seed when mike came back fukk what you talking about. Pippen gets all the credit for the 55 win bulls but next years extra average team gets swept under the rug. That '94 team overachieved like a mf everybody knows this.

they didn't overachieve in '94. they lost more people in '95.
the '95 team was stripped down even further than the '94 team. most notably, horace grant was gone.

you see when Jordan came back, they still got ran out the gym in the 2nd round.
they had to re-tool and build a new superteam with rodman and the additions of harper, etc etc.
