What is the explanation of why White American players fell off in the 2000s vs White International players

Breh, I think White folk can play. I have hooped with a few of em, and they can hoop. Athleticism is their problem, or rather, we are TOO athletic for them.

I think it was the 60s when NBA basketball became a fast game, where the play started to get close to or above the rim, due to Black folk entering the league. But there were quotas that limited Black players to a few players a team.

Back in the 70s and 80s, White folk were still the slight majority in the league. Brehs weren't really into hooping like that, as a career path. We was too tied up in civil justice and then the crack epidemic that hit our communities hard in the 80s.

But then Jordan came, and Gatorade had an entire campaign slogan around wanting to BE LIKE MIKE. So naturally, our youths wanted to play, and the rest is history.

In a League where Jokic and Donicic dominate athleticism is not the issue.

i read an article on this some years ago.

Participation amongst white American males is down. They attribute it to discouragement due to the domination of black males numbers-wise stateside, starting from youth. They will just naturally choose other sports to focus on.

Lets say You have an elite athlete who shows promise from youth. He might like bball and might have the ability to be a Tyler Herro one day, but he and his folks are more likely to lean towards another sport to focus on because they have a "better shot" at going pro.

Whereas, overseas everyone is a euroc@c so that socio psychological effect isnt really there. They wanna ball so they just ball and that's that. So naturally they have more NBA success stories.

Aka scared of the competition. Being told that they aren't as good as nikkaz.

I honestly think it boils down to the overall "climate" regarding race in America.

To put it bluntly, white folk don't wanna be around blacks and vice versa.

CAC parents don't want their kids influenced by "the blacks" and their hippity hop music, so they are steered towards sports dominated by their own.

If you choose to pursue basketball professionally in America, you're gonna be around black people ALL THE TIME and alot of CAC parents don't want to deal with that.

You could also make this same exact thread regarding blacks in baseball.

If you're black and choose to pursue baseball professionally, you're gonna be around CACS ALL THE TIME, and I don't think that sounds too appealing to the average brutha
