The album being is irrelevant.

Its not about it being garbage, its about it not being a memorable album nor a memorable album cover. I've bought tons of albums and I can't recall what most of them look like. You know which ones I remember? The ones that are memorable.

Two things that matter more than album sales: 1) is the album memorable? 2) is the album cover memorable? illmatic sold like shyt yet look how many people talk about it or have heard about it since it came out. Even the people who still haven't listened to it have heard about it from the rest of us, as it has a legacy in hip hop.

Though it's probably Pac Eminem's second album cover (MMLP) is pretty recognizable. Reasonable Doubt and Dare iz a Darkside deserves mention too. Flesh of my flesh is another great one too. Atliens and Aquemini are up there too.
