I never thought she would have blown up. It seems like at any given point in time in hip hop, at least in the last decade or so, there is only enough room for one female rapper to shine, and now that is clearly Nicki minaj. And yeah unfortunately there usually has to some sort of sex appeal. Jean Grey lyrical style and lack of sex appeal should have nobody surprised why she didn't blow up.
