I will say in regards to this kinda stuff my biggest gripe is with folks near both of the extremes...
linear_relationship.png

1. Those who grew up around extreme poverty & violence
Why? My prob with them revolves around the extent to which they assume the hell they went through growing up is the same for all(most) AAs.
Typified by...
  • Not wanting to live around black people cause they are tired of "da hood".
  • Wanting to move out to the suburbs around cacs.
  • Complaining about AAs as a group when referring to specific negative subgroups.

2. Those who grew up away from other African Americans in white suburbs.
Why? My prob with them revolves around the extent to which they have a cac image of AAs who they never grew up or lived around.
Typified by...

  • Having the same talking points as cacs as concerns AAs
  • Believing that what they see in rap videos and on the evening news from their couch in white suburbs is the totality/majority of AA life. (similar to AAs who only think ...safari, "tribes", ebola, & conflict as concerns Africa cause thats all cac media shows them)
  • Believing that there are only three types of AAs. Rich AAs, AAs like themself who live in white suburbs, and poor ghetto dwelling AAs.(basically they act like if they weren't rich or didn't live around cacs they would have to live in violent slums)
I have a prob with both for different reasons. As I said numerous times I grew up in a "financially integrated" neighborhood in a city thats 80ish% African American, Birmingham AL. Now were there problem people? Sure, but anybody who knows anything knows that folks who about that kinda life only really mess with other into the same shyt. I'm not worried the auto repair man down the street is going to shoot the postal worker :mjlol:
(...though a little bruh hated when project kids would steal bikes while you sleeping or gone from home. Gotta wait till Christmas and shyt for a new bike :mjcry:)
Anyway, it's not until you can make a proper analysis of the dynamics of AA life(which is what @BlackPrint is stating isn't happening) that you are able to make targeted programs for those bad apples.(If everybody is broken then you don't know who you should fix first ...or more importantly who's reliable)

You not to far from where my grandma lived. South Shore was a hell hole.

Was garbage in the late 90s. I hope some of them Jamaica have been deported by now, always doing crime and shyt.

I've been wanting to make a dedicated post on this topic. I refuse to send my kids to school out in the white suburbs. I've already decided to find a home in a black area where the price fluctuates around 80k-150k(teachers, office workers, utillity workers, city employees, etc) and take the extra 100k-200k(+ interest) that I save by not moving out there with white folks and just home school my kids.

I grew up in birmingham in a black neighborhood both my parents working for AT&T (I.E. we were well off). There were about 4-6 kids in my neighborhood that I know of who went to private schools. The whole I want my kids to go to "good schools" so I'm going to move out of the black community is pretty damn short sighted in my opinion. People don't understand the amount of choices they have.

Also all the crazy shyt you see in the news with police mostly happens in 2 places...
1. White suburbs

2.
Cities with huge black populations but where white folks run governance

You can get away with hella shyt because all types of other things are going on, plus most violence is retaliation or fukkery involving brehs who are in the fukkery life.
People pay too much attention to what you do in "residential areas", also very useful and "active" places on the low. It just depends on what you do and where you be most of the time.
Nonviolent areas tend to attract people FROM violent areas who need soft targets for property crime.
This is factual.

It is a blessing and a curse.

My situational awareness is off the charts. My split second problem solving skills are fantastic. My moral compass is :ld:...

On the other hand I am pretty paranoid sometimes (I lock my car EVERYWHERE, hide my jewelry in my own house, and never carry more than $300 or so). I go out of my way to avoid police cars still. I have a hoarders mentality and eat bullshyt ass food (Syrup sandwiches:noah:).

If there was a way to subject my kids to all the lessons I learned without having to get robbed, jumped, racially profiled, and nutritionally shortchanged I would absolutely do it:ehh:

A few posters mentioned it but living in violent areas I find is paralyzing to healthy mental growth. Violence, abuse, drug use, ignorance, and dysfunction become normalized behaviors. Yeah people get over grief faster and shyt like that, but their outlets for coping are usually just as bad as any tragedy. shyt is so broken from what a healthy life should be, the negative behaviors become cyclical.
