The most that I have ever done is 415lbs. Since I tore my pectoral muscle the most I have done is 285lbs. I felt like I can do more but I wasn't going to push it.

currently maxing out 315x1 on my last set on power days.

i can get a set of 110#dbsx5 but that's as high as they go at my gym.

i don't like that ppl see the bench press as a standard of ones individual strength. :shaq2: i think pulling strength or lower body strength are more important but that being said you're not gonna find someone benching over 400lbs that isn't strong all over.

most i've done is 290 x 3, but i use a really close grip to spare my shoulders. ppl that bench 4plates have spotted me in amazement of how close my grip is for the weights i'm using so that makes me feel alright :manny:

i am kinda spooked by the idea of a pec tear  and have had a cpl of pec strains before so i dont try to max out and honestly at this point unless i feel like its to lift 315+ i wouldn't even try.

i would LOVE to bench near 400lbs tho, but i have more of an obsession w/ being able to front squat that type of weight.

the milestones of 2,3, and 4 plates carry diff levels of respect from onlookers and also make you feel good :smugfavre: 3 plates on each side puts you in decent company. once you start benching over 365, i notice that ppl in most gyms literally stop what they are doing to watch you. weak guys for obv reasons and strong guys to see what you gonna do w/ the weight so they can ultimately compare or respect it.

for the threadstarter, i recall you sayin you played college football or something so i actually believe you. how much did/do you weigh tho?

and for anyone else w/ over a 350lb bench what things best boosted your bench press?

lifting more frequently, lifting near max weights so you got comfortable w/ them, additional pushups/lots of volume or gaining bodyweight?

i have never benched consistently year in and year out but i would love to go from low 300's to high 300's on bench but i don't wanna gain 40+lbs to have to do that. :sadcam:
