Id recommend server. I did it for awhile and you can make some pretty good money off tips and such:ehh:

And as far as social anxiety, working around people and talking to them face to face on a daily basis can really help you come out your shell and help you develop more "people skill" (at least it did with me) which are really important if you want to move up in life.

Take the sales job. You will have to fake confidence to make it work ... that will lead to real life confidence. Just take it seriously and do your best. If you get tired (because of the weight) get up for a minute and get back to it ...also after work read sales books like "The World's Greatest Salesman."

Sales ain't for everyone . Def not for me so I pick server. You'll also get used to talking to different people and you'll learn a lot
Hell I was offered jobs multiple times when I was a cashier

If you can, take both jobs. Especially if you have nothing else going on. Do both until you can't anymore or until you find an even better paying one.

I'm working 2 jobs now, it's good having some extra change in the pocket.

Customer service jobs are hit and miss, people suck and can be rude but if the pay is worth it, you won't even think twice about it.

If you can only do one, I'd take the insurance job, I'm sure they pay a solid hourly wage and offer commission too.

Servers at a restaurant rely on tips, not everyone tips like they should and you gotta deal with ppl on a personal level, face to face. If it's a high end restaurant the tips can be :gladbron: just gotta play it nice and be courteous and helpful as can be.

Hope this helped. Good luck :ehh:

I would take the server position for stability reasons. I'm pretty sure your associates will help you move to a manager position.

I say insurance since you're self-proclaimed lazy and weigh 275 lbs. serving requires you standing up all day and constant walking if it's busy. In sales, all you need is the first sale then your confidence will skyrocket.

Cold calling is a tough job breh. You have to have a really good pitch game. But you also have to be able to let rejection not affect you...based on your post...dont seem like that would be easy for you.

Take the server job. If its busy..you stay moving...you stay active...it forces you out your shell because you have to interact with people your job depends on it. If the town is rural..you will not make much money though...and financially you wont fair too much better.

So I would suggest doing both. You need dough to get up out that town breh. Its dead..no oppurtunity...no life...

:yeshrug: both, you're in a rough spot man...god bless, i know the feeling ....you're gonna have to reach down deep....VERY deep and figure something out ...because making it out of somewhere economically deprived can be mission impossible for most

nikka fukk up you need to take your own damn advice for once. GET THE fukk OUTTA KU KLUX KLAN BUFFALO STOP SELLING 'RON ON THE SIDE

Well, your backstory was depressing as shyt. Take the serving job because of the tips. In the meantime you should try to get into something like accounts payable or accounts receivable. The qualification for that is a 2 year accounting or business degree.

Breh, I've heard much worse than OPs story on here alone - IRL - Forget about it. OP would actually be 5 out of 10 on the scale IRL have seen 10x worse than his situation.

The server position would be a better fit. It gives you the direct face-to-face people skills you are going to need to build and dealing with a diverse group of people. And as you get better at it, you will have a much better opportunity to move into management directly based on your degree (if Business is still the direction you want to take). Ideally you would take both jobs - if the Insurance job was M-F and you could work 2 weekend shifts at the restaurant and one during the weeknight. I know 50+ hours would be alot going from unemployed status but both of those positions have a high turnover rate, and after a few weeks when you've saved a grand or two you could quit one job and focus on moving up in the other.

Also, having hustle and charm are important in both of those jobs, but as a server your looks/appearance are very important when it comes to upselling and making extra tips. You need to cut back on the junk food and get some of that weight off. Start cooking your own food; you'll get ideas from being in the Back-of-House. you are already in your 30's so diabetes and other issues will be down your block soon if you are as flabby and sick as the vibe you are giving us.

I'd say server, cold calling sucks i remember i had to do it years ago and hated it.

Server you can make decent tips plus you'll work on your face to face communication that will help you in other areas of life.
