Of course not. But my mama literally used to say "I hit you so nobody else will" and I used to hate that shyt because I honestly thought she was just mean.
And then when I got older like 12-13 and nikkas started WILDING I mean carrying guns, taking their grandma's car, smoking weed, breaking into houses...
I used to think, "won't y'alls mamas beat y'alls was if you get caught???"
And then I finally got what she meant
I got whipped/ beat as a kid. That shyt was necessary consequence to things I wanted to do.
We used to get paddled at school in front of everyone on a stage. We would still act up , going on stage wasn’t a severe enough consequence for the behavior we wanted to engage in.
So what you beat the child harder if they don’t listen?
how hard do you go? Belts? Open hand slap? Punches?
I’m willing to bet that the reason you steered clear of the bullshyt in your hood had more to do with the fact you had two parents in your house who cared about you and not the fact they whipped you.
