I wrote a couple posts in a thread a while back breaking down how this shyt works. I explained things pretty well so that even idiots could understand. Maybe I'll look for 'em at some point (or maybe not :manny:), but I'll say a couple, brief things here:

You cannot (well, you can obviously, but you absolutely SHOULD NOT) "up-convert" a file (for example, take a 192 and convert it to 320). All you're doing is making it sound worse.

Downloading shyt from YouTube should be your absolute LAST resort. If you have to turn to YouTube for music in 2013, then I truly feel sorry for you. But then to transcode it UP to 320? :scusthov: that may be one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard.

I saw this clown actually post that mp3 >>>>> flac and actually laughed out loud. That statement should've made me back out, but I just couldn't do it. The quality of my music is very important to me, and I figured I'd attempt to help this lost soul. Of course you won't listen, but can't say I didn't try. Like I said, I wrote up some shyt in an earlier thread that explains shyt pretty well. If you're serious about music quality, just search by my name and "FLAC", "lossless" or "transcode" and you should be able to find 'em.

breh i dont even talk to my friends about music if they going on youtube and converting popular songs. like this music shyt aint even for you if you that lazy. i would rather spend money on digital rather than physical if youtube was the only other available option. i'd just spend less frequently. right now the only digital music i purchase is my stones throw subscription which allows me to only download in wav or 320

i'm by no means in audiophile, 192 or higher or vbr as long as it sounds crisp and not muffled or transcoded is fine with me. i do rip every CD i purchase, used or new, into FLAC as a moderately reliable backup

When I had my iPod and I finally knew about shyt like nitrate, I went thru every file and deleted everything below 192, unless it was a rare track
just copped my first ipod a few months ago. def been on this. esp being on Soulseek and being able to look at the rates of all my files so easily..noticed i had some wack quality on some of my favorite albums.

Don't be stupid. All my EAC rips are at a bitrate of 64 CBR and you didn't even notice.
