I just learned so much about the other Sega just now.

Sega was extremely competitive as a software company at that time, especially what was left of the arcade scene at the time, but they had terrible corporate business sense and their US wing in particular had a horrible eye for game design, marketing (post Genesis), and anticipating consumer trends. Just a bunch of suits that thought they were selling an edgy brand.
