What should or will be the reaction when Chauvin is acquitted?

An acquittal with violenve would be the worst possible outcome. The right would seize on the acquittal as an indication that Chauvin was innocent the entire time, and that the whole "BLM summer" was a sham and political theater to drum up "anti police" sentiment and raise money for Democrats. Any additional violence would be blamed on "the left" throwing a tantrum because they can't cope, and right wing politicians and organizations would make a killing in donations.

Democrats would push police reform, but would likely fail in the face of inevitable anti police violence.

There's probably decent odds of this happening :francis:

He def gettin convicted. His killing of George Floyd def woke up something in America. Plus after seeing that coward who killed that kid for playing his music too loud and that white female cop who killed the sleeping black man get sent to jail, I got faith.

Faith :scust:

But hopefully you're right.

Opinion | The Allies’ Betrayal of George Floyd

The real mystery is why some people will go to any end to rationalize state violence against Black bodies. In fact, that is a misstatement. It’s not a mystery. This kind of rationalization is a feature of our society. We have made blackness synonymous with aggression and the police synonymous with protection. Anything that challenges that precept must be put down.

In this equation, to far too many Americans, Floyd is just collateral damage, an unfortunate accident, while a noble defender of peace and order attempts to do his duty. In this equation, Floyd is dehumanized. In it, he is betrayed. What is revealed is the bottomless American capacity to countenance cruelty.

Some people called the summer protests a racial reckoning, but time has revealed much of it to have been a seasonal solidarity. The season has changed.

For some reason, I feel like because this isn’t an election year this will mostly come and go without the same intensity as last summer.

I don't think he's getting off the charges. Too many eyeballs on this and the local government is looking to make a statement. All the delays are pointing to his lawyers knowing he's fukked and I think that translates into his sentencing.
