you can also put jay z on a whole album with Linkin Park or run dmc with aerosmith and it works, ...collaborations working don't mean someone isn't still mainly subgenre A & B while the other artist is subgenre X & Y. genres don't refute people coming together
with those examples did they work more in the rap demographic or rock :jbhmm:
run dmc already had a rock sound second album was called kings of rock for a reason.

you tend to forget it’ll also create tribalism. and would have people making new sub genres everytime someone expresses themselves differently. look at carti they calling his shyt rage/emo rap when he just expressing himself in a weird way. its unnecessary. now if carti wants to tone his shyt back and make shyt like nudy does they gone say he sold out cus he not “emo rap” anymore. it will make rap artist less dynamic cus they’ll have to really stick to a style. drake could barely experiment with that house album imagine if he got locked into a subgenre and wanted to do that. :wow:

yea but if you put him as front man to a pop rock band will that work? no :mjlol:you can put jay z on a song with playboi carti and it can work with no problem.

That'll work as much as a Sum 41/Ozzy Osbourne collab.

kanye fused trap and drill on one song with off the grid cus rap is a fusion genre and anything is possible with it.

So you do agree that there are sub genres in rap. :handshake:

no those are styles full subgenre isnt the same thing.

can make a atmospheric style beat doesnt mean there should be an atmospheric rap subgenre. that is the issue that will arise with committing to subgenres any slight variation will need a subgenre designation. rap doesnt need that because people do not express themselves the same and every year there will be a new subgenre created . look at this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rock_ theres a subgenre for every letter of the alphabet its ridiculous. if a gay nikka make a rock song its called “queer core” makes 0 sense
