If the criticism isn't constructive and becomes excessive, then I would say it's hate. There's a difference between someone who thinks you should wear different boots in the winter than someone who's concerned about how much you paid for them.

Criticism is given usually for the purpose of improving something or someone. Hate is given to discourage something or someone.

People love masking one behind the other but hate is easy to spot.
