They may catch a game or 2 in the regular/league season but they are only become truly invested when it comes to the playoffs/ko rounds/major competitions to watch the big stars/teams. Leagues and Media know the die hards will be always be there regardless. Leagues and Media are always on the look out for the next young breakout star to hang their hats on because they are looking for their person for the next decade. Not for the next 2-3 years.
