Just got medically/ financially cleared at Hampton University. I want to know what can I do now to guarantee success to my future?
This sounds incredibly cliched, but you want to study and get involved.
There is no reason you can't get straight As, its not hard if you study and schedule your working appropriately.
Talk to your advisers and get to know the professors in your department of interest. If there is more than one department that you're interested in, talk to them to, connections with professors and administrators are incredibly useful in pursuing internships and jobs.
Sign up for internships.com and talk to the Career Services group on campus.
Go to the club fair your school probably hosts, and if you're interested in a fraternity, get to know them early.
A leadership position will give you responsibility similiar to a position at a job, and you'll learn to balance your work better.
Talk to all your professors before class, and find out what books you need.
There are a few good pre-UG books on studying that may help you
Are you going there with any connections or friends?

Yes, one of my grandmother's friends is close to the president and I have a few relatives around.

Are you white? If so just show up it'll be sorta out for you and they'll teach you a secret handshake or some shyt, otherwise...

As @Thomas said, STUDY. Actually try not to dikk around. College isn't to hard if you study. Read. I can't tell you how many people don't even read the damn text they are assigned. I actually know 2 people who graduated from state universities without ever having opened a book.

Also NETWORK. ESPECIALLY since you have inroads with the president of the school. Tell grandma to hook you up with a meeting with the pres and offer to take him to dinner so you might ask him (or her) for some advice on how to be successful at the school.

1. don't work while in college (ever)
2. read avariciously (start with the classics and lean towards anything philosophical (and by philosophy, I mean a theory of how things, money, government, people, etc..., work ))
3. spend time at colloquia in the departments of the courses you are taking during the semester.
4. average about 12 hours/day in the library, your friends should be library people (this is your life now, they are your people, lead them well)
5. Keep a 4 year calendar, a monthly calendar, a weekly calendar and a daily to do list religiously (college is all about time management)
6. Learn to say no to people who are not minding your business, MIND your business and your business is school.

more later

Join clubs and organizations. When you enter your Junior year work on getting an internship. Go to your school career center and demand they put you in a internship program even if it's a small one. A internship is a internship.

I'm not sure if anybody else would recommend this, but you should take your strongest subject classes right now. For example, If you're good in History take history courses now. If your good in biology, take biology now. Get yourself settled in with easy classes so the college transition is easier. I've seen a lot of people in the finance program take the hardest courses first so they can get it out the way; and well:francis:.

Good luck at Hampton, congratulations on getting in.:salute:
