Reminds me when I was at the park the other day playing ball and all these little middle school kids, white and black, were calling each other nikka and the black kids didn't even do anything about it.

:dwillhuh: hip hop was always an influence growing up but I've never seen such gratuitous use of nikka as a term of an endearment by white kids like I see now sometimes

The black kids aren't even bothered at all by it.

Interesting how times change

But if its rap music then what do we blame for the Puala Deens/Mel Gibsons/Michael Richards of the world? I swear to God, I am glad I wasn't raise in America. America treats Black people like one of those pimpin' ass nikkaz treats his jumpoff, just beat the bytch up and convince her that it's her fault

:birdman: Justice for Tayvon
:mjpls: Stop worrying about Trayvon and worry about blacks getting killed in Chicago

:birdman: Why are my people disproportionately arrested and convicted for crimes compared to other races?
:mjpls: Cuz nikkaz be robbing

:birdman: You realize segregation ended while most of our parents were already alive, right?
:mjpls: There's a black president, welcome to post-racial America

It's parenting, breh. This is not on 90's babies so much. This is old heads not passing on their experiences and history. Kids today don't experience the same outright hate that our mothers and fathers got in the 60's and 70's.

Obviously entertainment (most notably rap music, but not just music) is a large part of the reason, but I'd say the biggest reason is cuz so many people call non-black folks nikkas these days.

shiieet so white people could call you nikka and youd be fine:usure:...it aint offensive from other black people and some latinos depending on how latino they are:comeon:....I know a lotta black dudes is letting they white girlfriends call them that shyt tho:heh:

Had a nikka I knew bring a white girl with us wherever we was goin that day,and she start throwin out the word nikka to me and I had to check her and tell her I aint with that, she said she was sorry and we kept it movin, but she kept slippin but kept apoligizin....this c00n azz nikka gon try to make me change how I felt about it askin me "why you don't just let her call you nikka bruh, she don't mean nothing by it:youngsabo:?"....I didn't think she did mean to be offensive but im supposed to "lighten up" to make her more comfortable huh my brotha:mjpls:?

and you can talk about 90's babys, but 80's babys wasn't all that respectful with the word either now was we?im all for use of the word nikka amongst each other, but spersonally I try to be respectful and not use it around old people who I know may see it as a different way if I notice them around,i gotta say my generation is just disrespectful of all words in general:heh:....I talk that ignorant shyt too but it be little kids around and nikkas still be throwin out "nikka, shyt, bytch,ho,puzzy lips, fuk" and every other word and topic you can imagine like we don't have the intelligence to pick another word or pause a convo:what:...so if nikkas cant check themselves and each other on doing that shyt,is it really a question why other people usin that word?.

Freely might be a strong word,i don't think all white people who use it would have the heart to say it to random black people.....we use that shyt freely to describe every damn thing from people of all races to animals:heh:

Brehs, the word nikka is cultural now. Not that it doesn't mean what it means, but people include it in their everyday lexicon. At this point no one owns the word--not blacks, not whites, not anyone. It's strictly an American term that's part of the culture. With that said, I think almost everyone who uses it chooses to be willfully ignorant of the word's history in this country. I'm on the fence when it comes to white people saying nikka. I cringe when I hear any white person say it, but then I wonder why I don't cringe when I hear another black person say it. As a whole, it is a cultural contradiction, and both sides need to have open discussion about the usage of the word
