:duck: ! hear th!s stup!d argument too much... black people cared more after that cop sh!t cause he was down for h!s people & the black panther sh!t got put on blast, long before he d!ed.... n!gga been called the goat long before he d!ed... had h!ts on h!s 1st albums & ! a!nt really fukk w!t h!m too much then... MATW & Thug L!fe sealed the deal for me... n!ggas just wanna hate...

! know the era, pac was crowned k!ng long before he d!ed....

:shaq2:In the 90's nobody went around talking about who the greatest was like they do now,the term "Goat" didn't exist until LL named his album Goat in 00.Wasn't nobody callin pac no "goat" before he got shot up.Pac was known as the loud nikka always in the news for getting arrested.Rakim was the only rapper who I ever heard people call the greatest back then and pac's 1st album is garbage it took 4 years to go gold more proof nobody was checkin for that nikka back then until he started actin an ass and creating controversy to sell himself

I see, youve employed the strategy of hiding lies in with truth to try and sell a bichmade argument. You are right about the LL shyt, no one was really talmbout that shyt till that album dropped. But you actin like Keep Ya Head Up wasnt that shyt and Pac wasnt celebrated? When do the lies end when does the truth begin or does it not matter?

How long did illmatic take to go gold? plat?

real niccaz aint gonna fall for your BS. Real recognize real and you aint lookin familiar :jawalrus:

Illmatic wasn't even the best album in 94 funkdafied, creepin on the come up,the diary and ready to die had more buzz than illmatic in 94,but on the internet it's praised as the greatest thing ever.

It still didn't take 4 years to go gold it had more buzz than that 2pacalypse garbage. The world is yours>>>>When my homies call :pachaha:

I never said pac was some unknown nikka either but he wasn't praised as this god/messiah like he is now

Versatility, could make party tracks, goofy tracks, tracks about the struggle, about that street life, about the b*tches, for the ladies, crazy work ethic, passion, extremely recognizable voice that was powerful AND melodic (DMX, Ja Rule and 50 cent all used that, worked out quite well for them), tons of classic tracks, stage presence, larger-than-life personna, a poet and an actor too (a good one)...he may be not be the best in all single categories like lyrics, flow, charisma, "realness" but overral, as a "full package", I can't think of one rapper who can challenge Pac. Maybe he would've fell off, we'll never know :to:

He also "blew up" when hip-hop was blowing up itself and during a great period for the genre. Maybe rappers that came earlier were bettern but it was too early to get that attention. Those who came after came after the East/West beef were in a period that was slowly becomning oversaturated. He had already been around for some years so he was already known and respected. Death Row was also established and gaining tons of attention, so the pairing was huge. I mean we were talking about Pac signing to DR back in Central African Republic.

If there's one solo artist who's really "larger than rap", I'd say it's Pac. Jay-Z has kind of become that, but mostly through his business ventures while Pac is still a global icon off the strenght of his art and life. He's not even my favorite rapper but it is what it is.

i dont remember any of this. The term goat wasnt even used back then. The main reason I say all the Pac love is fake is because Ice cube was the real king of the west in the early - mid 90's. Ice Cube was the rapper who had love on all coasts. Ice Cube was the bigger star with better albums. Yet no one puts Cube on the same pedistool that they do pac....it looks phoney and contived. You can hear Cubes influence all over Strictly 4 My NIKKAS....No one ever mentions how cube united a Blood and Crip on one album and made a classic. This was his way of unity. Meanwhile Pac got killed trying to be down on some gangster sh*t which divided Bloods and crips..

He had something for everyone. Thug shyt, introspective stuff, ladies tracks, party anthems...and most of it was dope. Many rappers today try that strategy and fail. They may make dope street shyt, but fail at making singles. Perhaps their ladies tracks are on point, but the introspective stuff is vapid.

Pac spoke to people of all races and backgrounds because he put his heart out for all to see, and was good at it. He told the world his flaws, his fears, his concerns...and they mirrored those of ordinary people.

Rappers don't like to be vulnerable too much no more but I think that's what helped Pac connect...and t.I said it right when he called pac the goat becuz every emotion he wanted to evoke from you he wuz able to do....whether it wuz sadness, anger, celebration, get you hyped up

I had this old ass Mexican dude tell me "Shed So Many Tears" was his favorite song of all time.It shocked me because dude looked out of touch.Like he was one of those old hippy/La Raza/ stuck in the 60's type of dudes.A straight up Mexican Willie Nelson looking ass muthafukka

Pac just told simple truths.People connect with shyt like that.Pac was spitting modern day Negro Spirituals in forms of rap.

I think he was highly intelligent, but dumb sincere. The type of dude that everybody couldn't be around because he spoke his mind, but at the end of the day, once the abrasiveness rubbed off, you can't do nothing but respect it because it's void of phony/pretentiousness.Basically, the nikka was raw.The very definition of it
