What was Prodigy thinking dissing the Def Squad for no reason?

I don't remember the timeline but that was after Keith Murray snuffed him right? He had another song dissin them too called In The Long Run where he actually said their names

Nah. "Man Down" was before, "In The Long Run" was after.

Maybe it really stemmed from some Long Island shyt? It would seem ranom to just diss Def Squad randomly otherwise. Not like they were super large in the big scale (no diss, i love both Mobb Deep and Def Squad clixk and group)

Its bugged out to think how young all these cats were. nikkas were kids. Not just them but alot of cats in the 80s and 90s.

Mobb Deep got put on by P's aunt who was deep in the music biz. He said it in his book. His mom was a replacement singer in The Crystals for a while.

And Juvenile Hell was :trash: and 3 people bought it.

Lol sometimes your brash take on ish reminds me of my younger self

Prodigys book is cool but im not into fiction.

As far as backround info and stories i will give havoc the credibility he deserves as he is mobb deeps founder and said gangstarr put them on, i think guru discovered them

Juvenile hell charted and made a larger impact in hiphop then you are claiming.

Nobodys dont get dj premier and large professor on they album before nas.

they had decent writeups in the periodicals of the times and were mentioned by other artists which was a measure of acceptance and skill back then.

Also juvenile hell is not that much different than mobbdeep.

Not really debating with you just stating facts

I thought it was Q-Tip who put them on?
They would stand outside of record labels and approach any rapper they recognized. Tip listened to their shyt and liked it.

Nah. Juvenile Hell was :trash: and had zero impact and any statement otherwise is revisionist history. And it did not chart.

Show of hands, how many people bought or even listened to Juvenile Hell when it came out?

Nobody bought it, it influenced nothing, and it got terrible reviews. Mobb Deep themselves pretty much said they knew it was wack.

Prodigy got snuffed and then RAN. If that happened in the social media age and got caught on camera it would've been a career-ender.

Of course Hav tried to peace the situation but P couldn't stop talking.

But I know...Prodigy was about to pull out of the Mach 11 but he was at angle where the streetlight was shining directly in his eyes and it flared up his astigmatism so he was forced to run because he didn't want to let off blindly and potentially hit Gambino and Ty Nitty in the crossfire.

Naw man, that's when they jumped Nore. He was gonna shoot Murray but a city bus was beeping it's horn so P turned around to see what the deal was n when he turned back around Keith was gone

Im sure label politics played at least a small part in that.

Juvenile Hell was on 4th & B'Way/PolyGram/Island Records.

The Infamous to Infamy (1995-2001) were on Loud/RCA. And we all know the direction Loud was going from '93 (Alkoholiks, Wu-Tang, so on).
