Streets of Rage 2 was my first Genesis game. I always wondered why haven't they made a reboot on modern consoles. So many memories with that game, and it had one of the best video game soundtracks of all time:

the old school co-op beat em ups (Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Turtles in Time) still get made from time to time, they just rarely evolve past the simplistic style of those games which doesn't hold up to todays standards. Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim vs the World are 2 of the few exceptions

the Summer of Arcade xbla promotion has a new Turtles beat em up coming out actually

Most of those games you mentioned were big in the arcades but after arcades fell off :yeshrug:
Unless you have a lot of friends with a lot of spare time it's hard to get that arcade feeling back.
That being said there are several good beat em ups released in the last few years notably castle crashes, Scott pilgrim, dragons crown and then HD remakes of dungeons and dragons.
I agree with mowgli though that warriors game was piff, what other game is there where you can do coke to replenish your life. Stealing cat radios robbing jewelry stores :blessed:

Scott Pilgrim and Castle Crashers are both dope and recent. I remember loving the Bouncer for PS2 too. The thing with beat em ups though is that they're best in arcades. I play the Simpsons online and it doesn't have the same charm as standing at the cabinet next to a couple of heads and rocking...that feeling when Mr. Burns had you on the ropes and one last cat came in to grab Marge and give you hope that you wouldn't waste your last couple of quarters....that's something that can't be replicated on a console imo.

I'ma cop the Dungeons and Dragons HD remakes soon though, RPG elements made that the GOAT arcade beat em up to me even though I rarely found it in arcades (never played the second one).
