Around my way at that time most of the people I knew were listening to No Limit and Cash Money. I got “teased” for “being on some New York shxt” for being in to Wu early on. I also adopted the “New York style of dressing” as a teen so that added to it. People messed with Meth but funny enough Ol Dirty was the first one I noticed many people gravitating to. People messed with Only Built album but overall it was a very slow adaptation. It definitely wasn’t until around the double album release that they were really fully accepted. Triumph video played a major role.
Basically this

I think we aren’t necessarily talking about exactly when they came out.

I was still banging WU heavy in 97 ( forever, solo projects) and dudes would act funny.

either way you can substitute any popular southern act and it’s the same.

nikkas was really hating on NY rap and if you had an open ear you got clowned.
What yall think "rise to fame" means? :gucci:

The point still stands tho broski

instead of saying NO LIMIT we can substitute Ball and G or any southern/midwest/west coast artist that were getting burn.

Wu was loved but midwest/south dudes finally was getting burn and a lot of dudes took time to really start fukking with East coast shyt. nikkas who went hard for it would get clowned in some places.

I can understand that. I guess being in the upper northern east of the country, I never experienced that. I guess it's even different because most didn't have mixtapes down there either. So even if you didn't hear wu, you'd hear one of them nikkas on a tape or something. Mix show or something. But we wasn't hearing south music till it blew all the way so it's understandable
