What was the reason black women started wearing wigs/weave?

Sista real talk my braiding skills suck. Been meaing to sign up for a class to learn how to braid like yall sistas.

I got girls (especially a little one who is only 5) so I be wanting to do the littles one hair myself without any help. With the youngest I always take down her braids, detangle her hair, wash her hair and then my wife braids her hair.

Just the engineer in me....in wanting to learn the entire process and do it efficiently.
Start off with simple braids like French braids and I always over condition so the comb can glide through. Always comb the ends first.

It's so many with fake eye lashes out here tho lady libra

I agree a lot of sistas have natural hair and the ones with weave few and far between

I think for some it's hard to tell natural from weave

I have lashes on in my avi. I like them for thickness/darkness. I'm also wearing eyeshadow. I think men don't mind makeup (or hair) if it compliments the wearer. Men appreciate women in each of these categories for sure -

Plain Jane
Chic & Bougie
Classy
Femme Fatal
Flirty Femme
Maneater-Whore
Business lady
Church girl
Cute nerd
Or a chic who is versatile with her look.

It takes all types. And your aesthetic preference is out there.

I feel like it’s been a thing forever but that could come from the fact that my bald headed ass sister always had weave in her hair even in her teens.

Another factor could be they were just trying to copy the styles of some singers or movie stars as well.

Have you ever had to sit and wait for a woman to do a wash a go?

:jbhmm:
It takes a while to dry hair but the main problem is women pick a beauty shop they like and they go there no matter if they moved out of the hood. Also beauty parlors are ratchet as hell they routinely triple book their clients and women roll with it. If a chick insists on getting her hair done on a saturday you're not gonna see her at all that day.

But the real problem is laziness, Black women say that maintenance of natural hair is way more time consuming, You have to properly oil and condition it wrap your hair up at night. Easier and cheaper to just cornrow that shyt and get a quick weave.

I meant at home with a woman you’re with. The cream, and the gel, and all the fingers running through it, then the drying. I actually sat there and watched what she was doing. I was at a point where I didn’t mind the lace front, as long as it wasn’t cheap looking.

But when she had braids

:blessed:

Nah you still gotta take care of your scalp regardless.

That’s why you never go to the dresser on Saturday.
