or was it just cause of fashion? I know black hair hard to handle but I know it isn't impossible for a black woman to grow their hair out and maintain that shyt. just a preference but I hate everything about wigs/weave, fake eye lashes, and also makeup. to put it simple I love natural women...hope I didn't offend any of the brehettes but its just my opinion :yeshrug:

I meant at home with a woman you’re with. The cream, and the gel, and all the fingers running through it, then the drying. I actually sat there and watched what she was doing. I was at a point where I didn’t mind the lace front, as long as it wasn’t cheap looking.

But when she had braids

:blessed:

Never seen a chick get a home do and it's crazy that Braids get's a pass when weaves don't but who doesn't like a decent braid job.

shyt looks goofy...
Especially blonde hair...
Imagine a man walking around here with a blonde wig trying bag something...
nikka would go viral...

But you can't tell em nothing...
That's the thing weird hair colors look crazy, I can't figure out if a Blond weave looks worse on a lightskinned chick or a darkskinned chick. I'd say it's worse on most lightskins for some reason.

the reason i was wearing them is because i was too scared to dye my own hair. it was really fun to have brownish red hair but i didn’t wanna commit to it or have my own hair potentially fall out.

there are lot of reasons though, a lot of the ones mentioned by women in here were good.

Well it is a "protective hairstyle" but the issue is why do they wear straight hair weaves Braids are "fake hair" too but no one has a problem with that. No one would have a problem with an Afro wig either.

I mean do what you want with your own hair but if you wonder why nikkas prefer "good hair" it's because Black women promote that shyt. Until I was 9 I thought that Black women who had straight hair had that naturally.

Yeah wearing weaves started to get big in the 90s. But even then often times it was a pony tail extension. Now braids extensions are from the 70s and sistas been wearing wigs since the early 1900s.

Then the pony tail wig went to the glue extensions and sew ins. I grew up around all this stuff cause I had female cousins who rocked weave and did other folks weaves. Plus my sista wore weaves sometimes.

Then of course dating sistas and marrying a sista. shyt I done took down plenty of sew ins. Been there when my wife transitioned from perming to natural and I use to detangle and wash her hair (when she became nature) and did my daughters hair (who are natural).

I actually learned more about black womens hair as I got older and dated. Because one my sister never had a perm, my mother never permed her hair and two my mother has very straight hair. So she (along with my sister) could do things to their hair other sisters who had very kinky hair couldn't.
Jesus Christ those ponytail extensions were awful, can’t stand them :scust:

I agree with op :ehh:

Fake hair, fake nails, lashes, etc disgust me.

It's hard to get fake hair strands out of bedsheets :yeshrug:

Some black women just insecure tryna live up to white society perceptions.

Understand your preference but I don't personally think anyone should police what a black woman wants to do with their hair. Hair watching is just as cringey to me as pocket or dikk watching. It's her body at the end of the day, she can do whatever she wants in my totally honest opinion:yeshrug:

What the fukk does this even mean? You sound brainwashed as fukk.

:scust:
You know what she means, why nikkas gotta play dumb and clueless all the time. In the “dominant society”, traditional black people hair is frowned upon in the workplace. That’s why some states passed laws making it illegal to discriminate against us based on our hair.

I’m natural but coli acts like Black women of a certain hair texture haven’t been berated about it, in and out of our community for generations. It’s “nappy”, “you ugly”, “look like a man”, etc. But than again, a lot of posters act like colorism doesn’t exist and darkskinned women created it in their mind out of thin air. A lack of empathy is a common theme on here.

It is not as easy a decision to go natural for someone whose hair looks like this.
