:what: How is PG defense not important when you got Westbrook/Rose/D-Will/CP3 scoring 20 a game. Look at the 2011 finals where Jason Kidd was guarding Lebron. That impacted the whole series.

It's not important because It doesn't win or lose you series most of the time. Its not nearly as important as other positions. Unless your a shutdown defender like Payton, defense should never be used in debates of Point Guards. It's all about offense at that position and how well you run a team

Russell Westbrook destroyed the heat, and they lost in 5

Deron killed LA in 2010, and they lost etc

Chris Paul put on a show against the Lakers in 11', and they lost in 6.

Kidd guarding Lebron for a few players here an there'd didn't have much of an impact as the Mavs Zone as a whole and Lebron choking.

You're not answering the question....

Unique skillset, constantly creating open looks, in a league with absurd athletes he manages to get to the bucket with relative ease. Phenomenal defender.

I just like his game. Im not going to get pissed if you think Paul is better....but the only team that really gave the Heat a series was Boston and Rondo was the biggest reason for that imo

Rondo was one of main reasons they lost in the 2010 finals. Kobe literally let him wide open and rondo and Dared him to shoot and he couldn't make him pay.

everyone plays off of him but he still creates space for himself to get into the paint....the one thing I guess I dont like about his game other than the obvious shooting issues is that he isnt aggressive enough

That's my point, you can't say that about any other elite PG. Imagine nikkaz leaving Steve Nash wide open:heh: you'd get murdered.

When Kobe was able to leave rondo alone he could get those 15 rebounds like he did in game 7 which led to them winning that title

Nah...the biggest reason they gave the Heat problems is that the Celtics have a post presence plus Bosh missing most of that series. That's the only way to beat the Heat.

Dude yu bringing up series where the teams that lost were already inferior to the other team in the first place. That shouldnt take anything away from how Rondo's D impacts a game. In the playoffs it all comes down to what you make out of ur possessions, and when you got a nikka like Rondo D'ing perimeter players up, and disrupting passing lanes, it makes it very difficult to win games. Which is why they have always been able to get far in the playoffs.

They really shouldn't have gone 7 games against the Sixers man.

We gonna act like Bosh didn't miss the first 5 games? We gonna act like KG wasn't :eat: that frontline for lunch? Pacers gave them their 2nd biggest test was that a reflection of George Hill? I agree with your assessment about Rondo's abilities however he is fortunate to be in the perfect situation where his shortcomings (shooting) aren't an issue and he has plenty of guys to pass it to. Chris and Deron have been asked to score 20 ppg as well as creating open looks and play defense throughout their careers.

It's the playoffs. don't mix playoffs with regular season, because we're talkng about two very different things here. how many wins you had, or what seed you are don't matter. Remember the Hawks who won like 38 games during the regular season took a Boston team that eventually won the championship to 7 games.

I brought up those series because they were examples of PG's going off and there teams still lost. PG defense has nowhere near the impact of the other positions, especially big men

Rondo is a good defender but hes not shutting anyone down though. He doesnt have that type of impact and He's not that type of player, he's able to gamble that much on defense because he knows he has KG behind him to back him up. Everyone notice how when KG leaves the game how much worse Boston's defense gets? It's like the opposing team always goes on a run during that time. I don't see rondo's "impact" when that happens. I've never seen a series or many Playoff games for that matter where rondo's defense was the reason for who won and who lost

So if he's not a shut down defender at the PG, I'm supposed to take him over Much better offensive players at the Point because he plays the passing lanes well?

I remember he got cut at the World Championships and I believe he fell out of favor with the coaches. Some say he's a "cancer"in the locker room but I could really see him excelling in international play. I'd take him over D-Will any day. What's really good with Rondo being left off?

he cant shoot tho breh
