What will it take for the NBA to overtake the NFL as the most popular sport in the USA?

Also, I could be wrong but I think gambling is declining among younger generations, another vestige of the past. iPhone apps may fix this though.

"gambling" in terms of stuff like slot machines and blackjack etc is certainly lesser with younger folks. sports gambling is absolutely booming

NCAA fans don't really follow their favorite players onto the NBA. Many NCAA fans don't even care for basketball as whole. Do you think there's many Duke fans that cheer for the Clippers because of Reddikk? Or Uconn fans that cheer for Charlotte because of Kemba Walker? What if you're a Kentucky fan are really cheering for the Wizards, Pelicans, etc

I think if players weren't automatically 1 and done's they would build that personal investment in them.

i cant believe no one has said this yet....

but basketball is seen as a black sport....yes i realize that the NFL is mostly black....

but the stars in the NFL are the quarterbacks...and they are still mostly white

and the NFL still has quite a few white american players....

theres hardly any in the NBA

The playoffs have been boring and meaningless as well.

People complain about rest but fail to understand that it happens cause even coaches and players don't give a fukk about most of the games.
