What will it take for the NBA to overtake the NFL as the most popular sport in the USA?

the NFL parity that yall think exists is largely illusory.

And even so its due to the nature of the 1 game playoff format...which is fine...but lets not gas it up for what it really isnt.

The NFL is the Patriots and a couple other stragglers

When the Cowboys become good again I fully agree that the NFL will be untouchable.

The poster above me talks about the refereeing impact in the NBA like motheruckers in here dont be incensed at the NFL every fukking Sunday :laff::laff::laff:

in any sport. fans will be upset at calls against their team. The Nba had an official being busted for gambling on games. winning at like an 80% clip. and said himself that the nba had officiating biases

Fewer games.. The NFL season is just compelling. I can see the Chargers go 6-1 then crumble when the weather gets chilly... Lol @ seeing the Saints win the Superbowl.. 16 games and they all mean something

Nope, the NBA has other countries

And what does Tim have to do with the fact gambling is HUGE for the NFL :wtf:

People gamble on other sports. You said nfl is lacrosse without gambling, so i will say the same for the nba.

And people gamble all over the world. Macau is located in china

You will say the same because that's how you roll, whether it's true or not you use the "Im rubber you're glue" method. The NBA is big outside the US, the NFL isn't you can't keep trying to draw comparisons.

Nobody is throwing down millions on games in Macau, you been watching too much James Bond breh :mjlol:

Its only midly interesting in those countries, soccer will always be king there.

I agree, but I'm not talking about NBA overtaking Soccer in other countries, I'm talking about the globalization of basketball helping to close the gap of popularity between the NBA and NFL here in the states.

Soccer will always be king, yes, but basketball is in great position to be the dominant number 2 sport, especially when you consider the affect the original Dream Team has had in exporting the sport of basketball. The NBA went from having only Drazen Petrovich, to countless international-born stars today.

i cant believe no one has said this yet....

but basketball is seen as a black sport....yes i realize that the NFL is mostly black....

but the stars in the NFL are the quarterbacks...and they are still mostly white

and the NFL still has quite a few white american players....

theres hardly any in the NBA

If thats the case then why isn't hockey the no1 sport? or nascar? it's just the nfl is more entertaining than the nba.

this is a preposterously bad idea supported by threadbare evidence

the way to get better at nba basketball is to play nba basketball........college and the pros are two completely different stratospheres of competition

Understandable. But to me. Foreigners are a bigger problem then 1 and dones. You draft the rights to a player who may or may not come over within 4 years. It's kinda shytty that in a 2 round draft, some of these guys right get drafted instead of a guy who put in 4 hard years of college ball. :yeshrug:
