Listen at 15 seconds this guys said the rioters were stealing hair extensions from a black owned salon.
regardless of the weave shop or not, that guy in the video is a c00n, of the highest order. he is so concerned with the white gaze he dismisses the factual systematic and unjustified mistreatment of black people by police as "nonsense" based on him managing to avoid getting lynched by cops the times he has been stopped.
He uses white people as the standard for humanity and you can assert this by the implications of everything he says in the video.
Also, he's not objective like most of these c00ns aren't, the fact that we can't have a dialogue addressing the specific issue of institutional racism in police forces and the subsequent predisposition to resort to needless use of force against black bodies without a nikka or two jumping in and yell
"b-b-but maybe its our fault, we need to change as people, damarcus killed lamar last week in a drive-by let's talk about that" shows the scale of the damage slavery and decades of unfair and unjust treatment had on black people. its a victim's defensive mechanism when conditioned and subjugated to immeasurable physical and psychological punishment, they start thinking that the problem is not with who's dealing the damage, but with themselves, regardless if they have done anything or not.
police brutality and institutional racism against black people and violence in the black community are two separate subjects that can be addressed at separate times, you don't have and shouldn't have to use the latter to excuse and justify the former. it is not right, it is undignified rather. And this is without mentioning that though 93% of blacks are killed by blacks while 84% of whites are killed by whites, the rates are comparable enough for us to assert that if you're going to be killed it is likely by "your people" and this makes sense since generally your primary interactions will be with those around you/your community, and though i don't have the stats for asian and latino people i can confidently assert that it will be the same for them, and i said that to say that "black on black crime", though an issue that has to be solved within the community, is not something to point at and use as ammunition and justification for the deplorable actions of law enforcement and others, against us. As a side note, the circumstances and dynamics of being a disenfranchised community should also not be ignored when speaking of this subject.
and to my last point, and this is my personal opinion, as grand as the civil rights movement was i believe it was inherently flawed due to being, for the most part, a "peaceful" movement. Y'all notice that every time black people dare stand their ground they are pointed and reminded of MLK's message?
"no-no-no you shouldn't fight for your dignity and rights, just march and keep your hands out in the hopes the oppressor feels bad and sorry and acknowledges you", that's essentially what we are told to do.
I can't recall an instance of peaceful non-violent revolution in the entire history of mankind, they want you to be peaceful because its their necks on the line. when you “get” things through non-violent means people feel like they did you a “favor” instead of you "getting" what’s rightfully yours in reference to human rights/dignity as human being, and that’s where a lot of messed up and prejudiced mindsets stem from, some feel that just by existing on the same realm as us they are already stretching their decency capabilities and that’s why “equality” will never be achieved even if only at the most superficial level.
