I would think it would be more about creating a family unit

I don't care either way. When i get married/engaged we're not having kids, will have separate bank accounts, prenup, and if push come to shove I most likely will be the one that divorces. That's a lot so if a woman wants to keep her name I wouldn't care at all.

How exactly are you progressive?

The tradition of a woman taking a man's last name is rooted in women being property and dehumanizing them. Probably one of the most conservative positions you can take.

I'm not criticizing your beliefs because unlike most women I understand that the vast majority of men have sexist beliefs even if the don't vocalize them.

I'm just curious in what ways that you consider yourself progressive when you hode such an extremely conservative viewpoint.
