Are you really saying only black people roast each other in "sessions"?
I think any highschooler will tell you that's wrong and I went to a school with a decent amount of white people (and have many white friends) so I know that the same insults black friends would hurl at each other they were doing as well and so were many other groups.
That's just a people thing.
I see what you're saying with the other point but that's just a trait of ignorant people in general or just people from lower income communities imo.
Not necessarily an exclusive quality.

Nah I'm not saying that black people exclusively roast each other. But if we are being honest, you don't see white adults, Asian adults, and Mexican adults "clowning" each other like you do black adults. It gets passed on to the kids more in our culture. As far as the kids go, Hip Hop/ being black/ is cool. I can almost bet (just because I went to a similar demographic high school :manny:) that the "other race" kids in these sessions listened to rap/hip hop, wore Nike and jerseys, played sports, etc. and they were making fun of each other for the same things that we make fun of each other. White kids in a roast session is more fitting in with the cool kids (athletes - black kids) than it is "snapping" like it is for us which we usually learn at a young age from our peers/family.

To get to OP's point, things that are seen as "good" are up for debate as to whether or not they make you "nerdy". OP is asking the question "what is nerdy" which proves my point about our culture. We have to worry about what is nerdy as adults. Some other cultures embrace the things that our young adults question because we are worried more about "fitting in" than "being exceptional". It's sad and I am not saying that any other culture is better than ours :whoa: but "making fun of things" is so engrained in our culture that we constantly question ourselves.

This couldn't be further from true.

Mexican-Americans, both adult and teenagers will clown the shyt out of you if you're from Mexico, and not to mention in regards to an education, that shyt is like third or fourth on things that concern them. Familia being numero uno.

Asians, again shyt on other asians. Especially within the STEM/Medical field. I knew this one chick who was a bartender and a teacher who got accused for "acting white" just because she has an outgoing personality. Asians look down on one another if they own a business like a nail salon, restaurant, dry cleaners etc. Something we would champion.

White people are the KINGS of shytting on each other, stand up comedy is built upon that staple right there of tearing someone down. Hell, white kids constantly refer to each other as "fakkit" for next to nothing.

People in general make fun or mock each other. It's petty, human nature.

Not gonna lie some of it is funny through :yeshrug:

Well I was mainly just trying to bring black examples up to speak to the thread. I don't, however, think that all people have the same crab in a barrel mentality that we do. I think whites overall are more willing to help/defend other whites than blacks, we tend to be more judgmental of our own than other cultures (just from my observation overall. I know many of us are very supportive). When I look at stereotypes of Asian Americans, it is not "corny" to be smart/intelligent/hard working etc. Whereas in our community there are large pockets of people where those traits make you a "lame"

To speak to your point about bullies, kids are dumb. I was more talking about adults than high school, etc. Even in high school though, in our culture we have "roasting sessions" and things like that where the whole purpose is to belittle each other. Not saying I didn't do it, but it seems more engrained in blacks than other races.
Breh, I have some friends who are street hustlers. They read comic books, play video games, watch sci-fi and the history and military channel , listen to rap conscious music and do other shyt that is deemed as nerdy. When get together to hangout, we never diss each other for being smart or attending college. Most blacks are not going to berate you for being educated , but some will clown you for being different, which many other race do.

I wasn't saying that anything in particular is nerdy. We all have our hobbies :yeshrug:

I was more talking about how it is more common for us to be criticized by each other for doing things that are usually good things. OP was asking what is nerdy and I was saying that there is an impression of things that are accepted (good job etc) as being "lame" or whatever. You have to admit though that the "impression" of Blacks is that we are "cool" and that we should be "smooth" and we are quicker to be judged as "nerds" if we do not fit these categories. Look at Steve Urkel vs. Stefan Urkel :ld: or Robb Parker calling RG3 a "cornball brother". There are connotations that we are supposed to be "cool" and being educated/ well to do is somewhat shameful to large pockets of Blacks. I don't personally hold any of these feelings since I'm educated etc. but I am more speaking as a general consensus. If you tell me that there is a cross culture of Asians as large as Blacks where being studious and not getting into trouble is something to be ashamed about/ corny, I would definitely disagree :manny:

I see what you're saying but I just don't believe it :manny:
Not saying you're wrong but it isn't something I've seen.
Everyone "roasts" each other and that doesn't mean just the stereotypical cool kids.
My friends (mainly composed of white people and Mexicans) were not the cool kids but we still flung insults around like nothing, people just like to bash on each other because it's fun.
Maybe you just didn't hang around enough white people or other races but people act the same across the board and this includes adults imo.
Maybe there's a difference in the type of "roasting" we're describing.
And I see what you're saying about the nerdy thing but while (assume i'm black despite people here not believing that) I was picked on a bit but that just wasn't by black people and then I was encouraged to be smart and go to school etc by black people and so were other people just like other people from other races do.

I agree everyone makes fun of everyone. White kids call each other "fags" and if you're in a group of any type of people if you're out of shape you get the  my point was mostly that we worry about "being nerdy" for being "well to do" and not "being street". Also, I wasn't saying that this is the case all the time, but that we have by far one of (if not the) largest group of people who are critical toward someone who is doing right. Don't believe me, watch the Chappelle show "Calvin's Got a Job" sketch and tell me the laughs and situations don't ring true.

whats actually hilarious is.....

They are the main ones.

I smashed more of them when i'm thug looking blackking at the bar with my nikkas... ....

not when i'm in a suit blackking.... on my way to pick my son up from school.

And Done!
That is EXACTLY the problem!!
I spent the first half of my life dumbing myself down to fit in with stupid nikkas just to have some friends. When I left home, I left that crap behind too.
Life is better not living up to stupid crab-in-bucket bytches expectations.

Like Tech N9ne said about Keiysha Cole. She played him and thinking that he was some lame broke dude with no swag, but he always had $$$ doing his own thing and she is now going broke.

And that is what these stupid females do. They would drop a sure thing that goes against the trends just to get with some broke worthless bum and impress their equally stupid girlfriends.
