Only thing with Butler is there was a time we thought he was comparable to Kawhi and PG, all those guys were seen in the same light and we debated about who was better...

The way those guys ascended beyond him is something else...

That said, I'm a Butler fan. I'm not positive he can be your best player on a title team, I think it'll take Bam taking that full next step to being the #1 in Miami and the Heat are probably true contenders with Jimmy as your #2...

LMAO

HOW IS PG BETTER THAN JIMMY?

WHAT IS THIS ASCENSION?
GETTING KNOCKED OUT
IN THE 1ST RD OF THE PLAYOFFS
FOR HIS WHOLE PRIME?
(Even while playing with Russ)

JIMMY AND RUSS
WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN GETTING
KNOCKED OUT IN THE 1ST RD.

JIMMY WOULD HAVE NOT
GOTTEN BODIED BY JOE INGLES.

That's a fair point, I don't really see PG as greater than Butler besides being a more prolific scorer. But I get the sense most people think George is better...

Part of it is PG is still hanging on and getting credit for those Pacer runs to the ECF years ago, that shyt pops up in support of him monthly on this board. I'm not one of these Paul George apologists though, trust me bruh...

I’d say that PG is better than Butler if he would only play with more consistency. He’s an enigma where on some nights he play like a legit top 3 player in the league and then the next game he can be a complete afterthought.

Butler has never stuck out to me a top 5ish player in the league at no point in his career.

I do think though that long term the Clippers will regret choosing SGA over PG.

WHO EVER IS GIVING PG
ALL THE CREDIT FOR THOSE PACERS TEAMS
IS A GOOFY.

HE WAS A YOUNG PIECE TO A SOLID CORE.
ONLY AVERAGED 20PTS ONCE ON 42% FG
WITH THAT UNIT.

EVERYWHERE JIMMY GOES
THE TEAM IMMEDIATELY GETS BETTER
WHILE THE TEAM HE LEFT GETS WORSE.

PG HAD A CAREER HIGH PER
LAST SEASON DUE TO TAKING 21 SHOTS A GAME.

JIMMY HAS HAD A HIGHER PER THAN THAT
3 DIFFERENT SEASONS.

Long term I agree choosing PG over SGA is gonna look bad in hindsight, unless the Clippers win it all this year or next...

Most people judge players from scoring ability, and PG is a more voluminous shooter who can score in more ways, so in that lens I can see how people favor him over Butler...

Jimmy is a winning basketball player period, I'd take him over George, I just don't know how comfortable I'd be if he was my best player. Miami ain't winning shyt this year but if Bam makes the leap and/or they get another All-Star down there, I'd feel very good if Jimmy is my second best player...

PG is probably better in a vacuum/on paper but I wouldn't want him as my #1 either, and I've seen him crack under pressure too many times, I've never seen Butler crack...

I don’t think either one of them can be your #1 option long term, but I’d have more confidence in PG doing it if he could be more consistent.

Jimmy Butler sticks out to me as more of a #2 glue guy on a championship team that does all of the little things that needs to be done and can give you 30+ a night if needed. He brings all of the intangibles needed to win, but his attitude can sometime be offputting to a team and demoralizing to a young team/player. He seems to be doing well in Miami thus far, so maybe he has gotten better in that aspect.

PG >>> Jimmy Butler and its not even close

what a dumb debate.

PG took a prime Lebron Heat team to 7 and 6 games in the eastern conference finals

Bulls were up 2-0 when Rondo went down and Jimmy Butler couldn't put away a shytty celtics team.

PG was a requirement to get Kawhi to sign.

SGA was a necessary sacrifice. It was worth it if your the Clips

PG is more talented and a more natural scorer but I think Butler is better at reading the flow of a game, a better playmaker, a better decision maker, and has better IQ. He’s also a straight up better leader.

He’s a better leader by far, but his type of leadership won’t work with every team which is why he’s flamed out in his three prior destinations. Miami is the perfect situation for him as Spo and Pat Riley won’t deal with his bullshyt when he pops off.
