A player has to be charismatic and outgoing to be a marketable superstar in terms of business.

Kawhi just isn’t that guy.

Nothing that Magic does is going to make Kawhi into a Charles Barkley or Michael Jordan. It’s just not who he is.

If Magic had this ability you’d be seeing Kyle Kuzma’s face everywhere. Or Justin Turner. And you don’t.
Before this season it was hit piece after hit piece on the Lakers. Now that Magic is in charge the narrative all of a sudden changes. Now we have positive Kyle Kuzma, Julius Randle, Luke Walton, etc articles pumped out every week by national media. Magic and Pelinka know how to manipulate the media.

Production on the court is number one though and please believe the Lakers will prop up a superstar like Kawhi in ways the Spurs never do. The Spurs are actually the opposite in that they are insular and aren’t very media friendly and don’t have as many endorsements opportunities (besides the local ones).

The Lakers having 30 wins for the first time in 5 years might have something to do with the media easing up on the team.

the ether
Lonzo
PG
Ingram
Kawahi
Randle

Kuz and hart off the bench
That line up gonna be :banderas:
Kawhi is signed for next year. And would they have room for him in 2019 if they give PG13 what he wants and resign Randle?

:ehh:

Spurs throw in Murry and Danny Green?

Draymond
Klay
Cook

For

Leonard
Danny G
Murrey
Spurs wouldn't give up three starters for two when Kawhi is the best player in that deal by far.

Draymond
Klay

for

Kawhi
Pau

Warriors would have the guys who went #1 and #2 in MVP voting in 2016 and neither would be the best player on the team. :ohhh:

Spurs would be taking a team that's gonna win damn near 50 games this year and upgrading Danny to Klay and old Pau to Draymond.....but the real move.

After dumping Pau's contract on the Warriors, they get Danny Green and Rudy Gay to opt out and test the market.

That gives them $30 million in space for :troll:.

Kerr coaching

Steph
McCaw
Kawhi
Durant
Zaza

vs.

Pops coaching

Murray
Klay
Lebron
Aldridge
Draymond

:ahh:

Have 3 MVPs on your team and still be the underdog brehs. :ohlawd::noah:

Report: Spurs Held 'Emotional' Players-Only Meeting Asking Kawhi Leonard to Play

The San Antonio Spurs reportedly held a players-only meeting Saturday in which they "implored" All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard to return from a nagging quad injury.

According to ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski, the meeting was "tense and emotional," and it featured Leonard telling his teammates that his absence was necessary.

Leonard has appeared in just nine games this season due to the ailment.

They have a blanket of no real Intrusive coverage with the media (no hit Pieces)

But damn this is the first real look at what’s going on there :gucci:
Kawhi gonna return with them braids cut off.

Spurs players feeling like this season will be squandered. Between Pop convincing LS to stay, and he balling, Manu not retiring and Murray emerging, they could have gotten to WCF with Kawhi.

Weird situation. I think at this point there are only two scenarios at play here:

- he's still hurt
- he's not hurt but doesn't want to play for the Spurs anymore

He is top 5 and a MVP type player

but I can't lie I wonder what he would have been if he stayed with the pacers and what he would look like outside pops system

Maybe he thinks he will never get his due with pop as the coach :yeshrug:
He may never be a superstar, but Pop doesn't build stars. He builds dynasties.
KL is one of my favorite players, and he's on his way to the HOF, but he won't be seen as a superstar on the Spurs. He has a choice to make: either go somewhere else to be "the man", or stay in SA and win more rings in the future.
