Real Hip Hop is sampled based Hip Hop...
Just because somebody is rapping it doesn't mean it's hip hop...
You can't tell me that Nas "Ilmatic" and Lil Reese "Don't like" albums are in the same category of music...That's like saying Jonas Brothers and Metallica are in the same category...
Rap Music has expanded to the point that there are different categories of rap music...
1)Hip Hop = Sample based boom bap
2)G-Funk = Sampled based but emphasizing funk and synth leads...
3) Trap Music = Electronic synths with 808's with a lyrical emphasis on drug dealing
4) Drill Music = Slower version of Trap Music with a lyrical emphasis on killing random people
And there are many more varieties of Rap Music...I think once the Rap Music fan base accepts that there are different distinct categories of Rap Music, artists can become free again, and everybody can start to eat...
Just like with Rock Music...People who listen to Metallica, don't give a f+ck about the Jonas Brothers, because they understand that the two bands are making a different sound that should not be compared...
In Rap Music, you have people comparing Nas to Chief Keef...It's happening because Rap Music is not organized and categorized, just like the majority of black endeavours, and that's why many good sounds are dying, and the art is being lost and becoming more of a Twitter trend...
