what's so good about skyrim?

It's not for everyone. It's an enormous open world first person "shooter" RPG. If you're interested in the types of games you can get lost in forever you'll love skyrim. If you need a game with a more established structure (levels and chapters) this isn't the game for you

You can pretty much be whatever you want, a thief, assassin, werewolf, vampire, stormcloak, imperial.. etc

It's the most immersive game I've ever played. Makes the depth of GTA5 seem like nothing and it came out years before hand

You NEED to play it... shyt is mad fun... You can do alot in their universe, build and own your own home, make your own armor and weapons, hunt bounties, make jewelry to sell at market. ride horses, Hunt Deer.

Definitely the ability to beat the game in various styles. Also the sheer amount of things you can do BESIDES the main storyline makes the game great. If you're not into dungeon crawling and lore it probably isn't for you though. Understanding the significance of the politics in skyrim is actually more interesting than the main storyline. Also if you're getting it on PC the modding is amazing on the game.
