i can answer this - in regards to the adverse reaction: it's cause women like attention and are used to getting it....so compliments are usually white noise to most women.....the min a guy doesnt give them attention/a compliment, it gets to them/peeks their interest, and they then 'need' to find out why he's not like the others....it's part of the dumbass game women feel they subconsciously have to play...but, this just doesnt apply to women....men will want a girl to give it up, but she cant give it up too fast or she's a ho; but if she doesnt give it fast enough, she's a tease....basically: people have tricked themselves into thinking you have play some type of game to meet, get to know, interact, etc. with people....yea, people are stupid lol.....

I remember reading this sentiment somewhere in a book or online a while ago and I thought the same thing then -

Some women like attention BUT from the man she DESIRES it from. If some random man does not sit up & take notice of a woman, it will not pique her curiosity about him as some people (cough) aren't checking for someone who isn't checking for them (cough). Truth.

It seems that liking attention is a dirty thing. I haven't heard a legit explanation as to why though. Only heard people front and quip about not wanting/needing it. I call delusion & lies - from an infant to an elder, man to woman, people appreciate attention on some variation/level/scale. OTOH, attention-seeking/needing to be the center of attention is a whole other issue, IMO. IDK, I'm still pondering it.
