My personal fav. is The Shining but I also think if I was introducing someone to Kubrick I would start with Full Metal Jacket and The Shining and maybe Eyes Wide Shut because they have the most relatable and grounded characters (at the start of the movies anyway). I'd never show 2001 as a first Kubrick viewing, it could turn them off Kubrick for life.
As someone watching Kubrick for the first time, I see where you get that from

Full Metal Jacket if you're looking for comedy (Edit: Didn't mean the whole movie :heh:)
The Shining if you wanna see some psycho shyt

I saw Eyes Wide Shut after the Frank Ocean reference too and that was an interesting little movie also, kinda quirky
