When y'all realize you gotta make music females care about. Every thread about her it's a bunch of nikkaz :cape: for her cuz they think she looks good, but nikkas ain't buying r&b albums, her music that was put out to the masses was basic as fukk, nothing said go buy this album, nothing made her an artist to check for. Y'all want to call people ignorant because they don't know her mixtape from however many years ago, she's done nothing to make people feel the need to go check her shyt from way back.
Everything you said was on point but you have to add she doesn't get any big time feature work nor does she have any cosigns.

From what I can gather from the responses in here... It seems like the problem here is that her music isn't strong enough and people find her generic. So if that's the case, then first, she'd need some sort of gimmick or hook that people can grab onto that draws their interest. Every popular entertainer has a gimmick or image they sell to the world, and since she wants to be a pop star... She may have to go back to the lab and drum up some ideas. Then, she'd need to start being a lot more artistic and creative with her music. Doesn't even have to be on some Bjork shyt (no shots fired), just something that stands out. She doesn't have to crank out a bunch of Turn Up Tunes to get noticed. shyt like John Legend's "All of Me" or Adele's "Hello" work perfectly fine. I don't even think most pop stars now resort to that now anyways.

She also doesn't have a big enough fan base that'll ride for her and go nuts like how other pop stars' fan bases do. For example, if you even think about going after Beyonce or Rihanna, Lord help you. And Justin Bieber's "Beliebers" have lost their shyt because of what someone said to him or about him on more than one occasion. Crazy as they may be though, they're loyal as fukk and will ride for that artist. They request the songs to be played on the radio, sell out the arena tickets, buy their singles and albums on iTunes and even vote for them when the award shows that involves social media participation rolls around. They make all the difference. That's why all of those articles that tell artists to develop their fan bases before even thinking of fame exist. Because if you blow overnight and don't have a solid fan base, you're fukked. Look what happened to Iggy (though she failed for a number of reasons, but that's besides the point). Until she can get a strong fan base locked down, she might not be going any further.

I unno, it's probably cus she's a more nerdy, emo, artsy type of person. She can do the pop artist stuff if she wants, but I don't think people are buying it. This track on the other hand, this to me seems like the real Tinashe. And it's pretty damn good,

People essentially want Mixtape Tinashe, but Tinashe wants that popstar life. And it's just not hitting with the general audience. People don't hate her. They just don't think her songs are anything to write home about. Otherwise, she'd be there already.

It could also be terrible management and her label just not helping her out.
