ok i see what you seem to be getting at but i dont really see any growth in a system that listens to your ideas but isnt really hearing you

maybe im just having a strong bias against it but when is the last time anything really changed in a positive way after so and so people got involved in modern societies politics? locally its good to be involved but its like what are people even fighting to get involved for? same ol dry farts still running these things like OP said

This is why I agree with the term limits for all levels. I think it would be nice to get some fresh faces and ideas in there.

In order for us to do better as a group, we need to do better as individuals.

:to: you're right
I swear if we were more involved, our government would be more progressive than it kinda is.

By our government, I mean the US government. I'm allowed my say, I donated to Obama's campaign hahah. :smugdraper:

The people who SHOULD be a politician are the ones who don't want to do it while the people who SHOULDNT be a politician are the ones who want the power/job the most.

Nothing actually, I'm trying to do a few things. Having just gotten started at it, have an ideal plan, and look for people that share a similar interest as you(especially large groups).

Pardon me, can I interrupt this youth bashing for a little bit?

Is it not true that the last 2 presidential elections had the highest youth voter turnout, or am I remembering something wrong?

Dont see any where in which I bashed any age group. Please enlighten me if I am wrong

Assuming that the old farts have adequate backgrounds...

You don't need an adequate background once you've been in your seat a decade or 2. The strength of being an incumbent is real, which is why we need term limits everywhere.

Plus I think you would also need to get the youth vote to be a lot higher than it currently is, one or two voices of change in the sea will easily get drowned out.

I totally agree. Trust me I'm not trying Tiananmen Square myself for the cause but I wish more people cared so we can get it going.

Problem is that those old fukks that are from the baby boomer generation are getting too looney for their work, if you know what I mean. Soon, in one way or the other, Gen x and y are gonna have to take over when they get too old to do anything. Stagnant people in power = stagnated progress in the American economy and social progress.

i wouldn't recommend it. i'm sure not all places are that corrupt and underhanded but the new orleans political machine is really fukked up. i was talking to a woman that use to work in the major's office just the other day. we've only recently become friends so i wanted to get a better idea of what she was doing and how she was involved in this city's politics. it wasn't like she was :merchant: about the whole thing, trying to tell me to stay away completely from it. more or less, she was trying to tell me in some way shape or form you're going to get your hands dirty if you try to advance, hence why she got out of politics. she had seen enough bad politics just from working close to others during those few years that she knew she would have to begin to engage in them if she stayed any longer or if she wanted to advance further. instead, she's become more of an activist in the community so she can stay in touch and not sacrifice her character and integrity.

when you think about it, if you sacrifice your character, you do more harm than good to people anyways, no matter how much "financial" benefits you bring to any of your constituency...
