Listen, I know everybody that works in I.T seems to be ballin, but ask them how many years of experience they have. If you aren't making over 60k+ after 5 - 7yrs of working in I.T you are doing something wrong. You can have all the certs you want, but if you have 0 experience......well good luck. and if you don't love it. You'll want to quit real fast.

And to back this up, before I got to where I'm at now and making what I'm making, I started out literally studying, practicing, eating, sleeping, and basically living in books building my craft. And when I say studying, I mean literally studying and practicing my skills 12 -16 hrs per day, sometimes more. And yea, studying and practicing those number of hours, per day, don't leave time for shyt else...no hoes, no television, no job, just sitting in a room working on my craft. It took months to years of dedication and sacrifice to get where I'm at. So yea, nikkas in tech fields may seem to be eating good and balling out, but don't think that shyt didn't come without hella HARD work and SACRIFICE.

You need to start with your A+ first if you don't have any certs at the moment.

I never saw the Value in A+ and few employers do too

Edit: Then again my degree as in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering so maybe in a way I'm beyond that point of entry

1. Experience
2. Virtualization is huge. So getting a cert for companies like VMWare, Citrix is is a huge plus.
3. Storage is also huge, EMC, HP, Dell, NetApp vendors are good to start
4. Cisco, can't go wrong with any Cisco certification
5. Microsoft is also still in huge demand, getting an MCP to start off with will get your foot in the door.

Me and this older cat at my job are pretty much the SMEs on Netapp and DotHill storage systems. Mostly netApp for me. And thats strictly CLI homes. Not that gay GUI shyt :birdman:
I do want to take some of their classes and certifications tho. I just have knowledge and experience on it but not the Certs.
