Richard "Segal" Huredia is partially responsible for both 2001 and MMLP - Eminem Show was the last album that was all analog out of the Aftermath camp, then Dr. Dre immersed himself into the digital world. I would like to preserve that analog sound . . at least on the drums, I've actually contracted the services of a studio drummer who's worked with Dr. Dre and I plan to port these over to a Studer A-827 (arguably the best tape machine in the world, utilized by Dr. Dre) before using them in the mix. Audio fidelity is a top priority here, I know that takes time but if I'm going to be dedicating time to something I can't stand inefficiency along the way

Also in regards to the home studio. Dr. Dre use to have a world class home studio and then he got rid of it, his reasoning was "I kind of got tired of having a home studio because you get to the point where you want to feel like you're going to work. Plus, sometimes you have to work with people and there's just some people you don't want in your house"

Trust me, I spent the whole last year working with an engineer online, he mixed my work down from Europe and we went into business selling mixing services to artists from around the world. He eventually moved on to sound design for a German toy company, his quality wasn't bad by any means

but when it comes to actually being in the studio, putting up $55 an hour (the studios in this thread that've been mentioned so far are upwards of $100 an hour) . . you begin to take on the seriousness of the business

if youre putting in $55 an hour in studio time you better have a record deal..if not

that $55 an hour will cost you around $5000 per album

That's how I started out man, but that experience I have now is priceless. Like I said earlier in this thread, you'd be hard-pressed to find an engineer who charges under $55 an hour that I'm not able to teach stuff to. The experience of working with that engineer is like ten-fold, if I died and went to a positive purgatory before reaching heaven it would have me waking up everyday in that studio searching in myself for that hit record to appeal to the masses that never accepted me

Wtt was recorded in a house
Well a mansion but the cost of buying equipment and building your own can be more fruitful them just going to studios

Ask if they need an assistant.
Unfortunately you will be working for free and will be getting donuts and coffee but it will pay off in the end and you will get free studio time.
