i said this a few mk's ago. its time for the fighting games to evolve into open world fighting games. where you can CHOOSE to fight side ways or in 3d with a more zoomed out approach.

open the world up. have quests, etc. have people walking around in the same world with certain characters or their own created characters doing all sorts of quests and what not. and if you cross someone's path you can crew up or scrap it up. your choice. you can choose to go to the sideways old school fight mode if you scrap or the new way with a further zoomed out look. you rank up with how you fight, combos pulled off and especially your win or loss ratio. and who you beat. if you hold your own vs someone ranked way higher than you. it increases your rank by a lot. and people can tell your rank by the garb you wear. it also boosts certain aspects of your abilities of your choice.

My impressions right now are that it's better than MKX but not better than 9. Main problem being the grind with the Krypt and inability to outright purchase the gear/skins you want. Also no sign of the klassic skins that were shown in the reveal trailer.

Bunch of filthy casuals in this thread trying to turn fighting games into button mashing RPGS. Fighting games are played to see who has the better skills not to walk around on gay adventure quests and mash randon buttons to win.

yep, this is the same face yall gave me a few years back when i made this very same statement. but yall all know the fighting genre is getting super stale. i know it and so do you. it's time for a revamp.

It’s not stale. It’s a niche genre just like RTS, racing, etc. You either like it or you don’t. No one is clamoring for whatever virtua fighter open world Division style streets of rage MOBA bullshyt you are posting about just to appease casuals. Why do you dudes always do this?

because it is stale. you know it, i know it. and we all know it. sure its a niche thing. but its still stale. by your logic it should've never progressed from the original street fighter. by your logic there should've never been any other types of fighting games. because its a niche market...dont change a thing.

Put it this way. I bet my next check, if someone were to put together a proper open world where you could roll around in clans with your own dojos teaching your own styles, that you have chosen and are perfecting throughout the game. everybody and they great granny would hop on that game, including the super fighting games heads. especially if it was made to still have a choice to fight the old school way , side to side. understand what i'm advocating for. This is going back into where fighting games get their bump from, which was martial arts movies. yes i know there is a fighting game out that pays homage to the old school movies. thats not my point. my point is to make it more like those movies, and more realistic with some video game flare. open it up a bit in an open world format and allow us to join in each others dojos and what not to learn new fighting styles and rank up. you could still have tournaments and what not. your could have clan clashes, but it wouldnt be so stale like it has been in MK's last few installments. even though i give them props for implementing a few new things into the genre.
they could have it setup where people would no longer quit if they are catching that beat down. you make it so that if you are challenged and you are losing and about to catch the beats. the other guy can choose to show you mercy. if he does, you will have to grant him some of your style(s)-power(s)-projectile throwing, etc. if he chooses to "finish" you. Then he can't get your power nor styles but he does rank up a lot faster than the mercy guy. you the loser can gain rank points in in loses by allowing someone to show you mercy vs running away which you can choose to do to which will subtract rank points and hit you with that yellow color on your back to let everyone know you're afraid to fight.

dude you're making this sound a little too easy to pull off. shyt sounds like it would need a godlike balancing team.
